Not much to get excited about.
Dunstan was good and showed he really wanted his slot I the team.
Steel and Crouch were very good.
Battle looks like he has a spot up forward if he can improve his kicking.

North were never going to lay down. Our point of difference being out is hurting us big time

i agree it was a disappointing last quarter and make me want to query their fitness as pointed out by Malthouse.

However a strong last quarter might have papered over the cracks and meant the team reverted back to complacency like in recent weeks.

They now know they must improve in effort, fitness and skills to win in coming weeks.

Higgins and Hill are fat

King is weak, and lacks endurance - I could out Bench him

And then there’s the goal kicking

I remember Rooy having issues with his kicking because of all the ground he covered. He was stuffed by the time it came to having a set shot

Battle was also tired at times tonight because he had to fill in as the second ruck.

Give Battle a spot as a permanent forward and he'll deliver as far as his leading and as far as his kicking is concerned

Get off his back. He's done ok.
He has played 2 good games this year - the 90 point thrashing of North in the preseason and yesterday's win against North. Sense the pattern? Hasn't played another good game.

Most AFL teams are made up of PROFESSIONALS.
Guys who deliver a high level of fanatical effort week after week becasue that is what a professional does.

St Kilda seems to be made up of MERCENARIES.
Guys who deliver as much effort as is required to maintain their place in the team and their pay cheque.
That results in a high level of fanatical effort only occasionally.

When we see that fanatical effort we know what they are capable of.
Then we see the lack of effort in the last quarter.
An opportunity to partly repair the percentage.
But no, the game is comfortably won so the effort drops and North reduce the winning margin significantly.
LAZY MERCENARIES.

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Not all are lazy mercenaries. Just a few but that's plenty when scoring is a big failure for us. Weed them out Ratts. We are going to lose anyway so saying there are no replacements doesn't really wash, just kicks the can down the road.

Seems to me that Butler and Higgins are worst (see, sucker me still can't say Hill is not trying, just out of form).

Higgins was close to 100m from Ziebel when he kicked North's first goal, admiring Ziebel's work without a hint of irony that he is the nominal forward and Zeibel defending him.

Butler seems to have perfected the role formerly occupied by Mav, look earnest - be ineffective. Nice hair but. If you can't kick 30m what are you doing out there?

Dunstan was excellent and moreso when you consider his opponent.
