Collingwoods run and spread has been found out either there spread wide from a stoppage or the spread out of the back half they may get one possession over the top or one pass down the line but rarely the second anymore

where as last year they would work around the boundry with every player pushing to it because the press zone was more designed to control the corridor so teams such as stkilda would allow the 10 to 15 metre space next to wing so so lightning spread around the wing and try and get 60 and then kick to the top of the square was the plan to maximize preassure

that was when the working from the back half a stoppage in the back half or a stoppage in the wing region or a throw in on the wing now found out from zoning closer to the line and defenders up the ground standing on the wing side of there opponent also Collingwoods play from a centre clearance was worked around just get it forward with a quick kick or players such as Luke ball would get contested ball and just handball straight out in the wing direction were they would be set up in numbers

this play hurt us several times in the second gf just couldn't get our hands on it Macca and jolly the main reason

now what Geelong have done this year is bring a defensive edge a new one sure they started pressing better holding it in but in a way they have startEd flooding deep

I noticed it first in round one we wanted to go to the top of the square but nearly everytime they would have the back three there ready they have done this the whole year that will stop the kick it to the top of the square mentality it is a mini flood to great effect

I'f you just want to get it forward which the pies want to do now as we saw earlier in the year with geelong and the pies round 8 and the same with us in round 21 and hawthorn all three teams have controlled there ball movement and also know you will get opportunities through corridor

because the pies love to spread wide dont forget how un match fit the pies were today but the pies now have alot of tweaks to make the press is nearly done it's time for a new game plan

ok..new to side but still plays in a GF even WITH minimal games......that probably makes Lyons decision to have Armo crawl to 50 games even worse...

THE POINT is these guys are inexperienced but PLAYED and not only for a game or two but were backed in to play in a GF........Im certain if fit Menzell walks into that side as well.

Under Ross you wouldnt say we really backed in our youth....
