Goddard looks at the spot he wanted and put it there...
Argueing otherwise is silly, as the real question is "was it with malice?"

From memory one of his other goals was hard and just over the fence, albeit much further out.

Heard on the radio this morning Goddard has emailed an apology to the kid and reiterated that there was no malice involved.

Did he?

I can't see that in his posts. Can you please point it out?

Players roost the nut into the cheer squad all the time.

Have done so for years.

Goddard absolutely, clearly, drilled it into them.

Whether or not he singled out a child and aimed for his face is highly unlikely - and had he realised prior that by drilling a low mongrel punt directly into the Freo Cheer Squad at head height would result in hurting a child, I'd suspect he wouldn't have done it.

But he did, and I'd bet he's sorry he did.

Having said that, I nearly got hit in the head by a Lenny Pascoe six about 25 years ago at the G.
Everyone knows the nut can hit you when you're in the crowd - whether players mean to or not.

So the responsibility is on the spectators if you ask me.

In cricket you are rewarded if you hit the rock hard ball into the crowd .... risking hitting someone in the crowd earns you an extra 50% ( compared to a 4).

..hitting a 150 km/hr ball into the crowd is not only an accepted part of the game.. the players are rewarded and thereby encouraged to do it.

This is by far the most absurd twaddle I’ve ever read on this forum.
A tight game, against a quality team, the result is still in the balance and it is suggested that Goddard ran up to the goal thinking and calculating …… oh my oh my just for fun I’ll kick the ball into the opposition cheer squad …. lines up and BULLSEYE! Wow that was fun - let’s do it again next week.

I thought Plugger did it in an even tighter game.
