If Big Ben doesnt play...
Could we see him when his contract is out that we will see the back of him? Hypothetically of course.
But surely has to be disappointing for the young man if he misses this GF after being a big part of the team all year. Just hope that if it happens we can keep him.

exactly right. very good type of bloke from what i can see and unlikely to crack the sads and quit in a petulant and luke ball-like manner.Legendary wrote:Loves the Saints, contracted, future captain of the club, will be in the leadership group in a few years.
Part of footy - being dropped for a GF didn't do Stephen Silvagni's career any harm.
He's a strong character, he will take it for what it means and not throw a tantrum and leave.

He knows that the No 1 ruck will be his...and that as a ruckman that he is still very young.

Imo this is just like what happened with Mark Blake and Steven King a few years ago.
He'll be all the better for it.
The change was made for the sake of extra experience that Bakes offers.
It also leads me to believe we'll be seeking extra output from Gardi, as in more than usual.
Or as some have mentioned, it could just be bulls***.

I had the good fortune via Samwell to be in the audience of Game Day tonight and prior to the show there was a bit of a Q and A.
Richo mentioned tonight "When was the last time the Saints went in without two specialist ruckmen?
When was it?
Given that Ross must see Patto as a ruckman?
Harley asked if we would really ruck Kosi and Blake for the time Gardi would be resting?
Big boy McEvoy in for mine.

I agree can really not picture us without two rucks. If Kosi was to spend time in the ruck that would make it that much easier for the Pies to drop back on Riewoldt. By playing both Gardnier and Big Mac it also gives us the option of having Riewoldt, Kosi and the resting ruckman in the forward line. Which would make it every tough for Collingwood it drop that extra man to Riewoldt.Iceman234 wrote:I had the good fortune via Samwell to be in the audience of Game Day tonight and prior to the show there was a bit of a Q and A.

In regards to being droppedSaint Pup wrote:Tough in what way? Also what sort of work can be done in the next few weeks?jonesy wrote:Lyon said on TFS tonight that the Bigmac was doing it tough, and they'll need to put some time into him in the coming weeks...
Don't know if you could read too much into what he said, but you could almost mount a case for him being really really upset from what RL said.
Bring back the Lockett era
I'm slightly leaning towards this being mind games. When Roo went down Ross said we dropped games because of a different structure so in came Stanley and we were winning again. We have had 2 ruckman for how long now? and we change the structure?
Very hard on Ben if he does not play imo, has been good for a while now.

If Kosi does have broken ribs as reported, surely having him bash and crash in the ruck is going to do more harm then good. If Jolly or brown dig the knees in, it could mean he is gone for the game.
Agreed and it takes away our forward options with Gardy doing most of the ruck work and wont be able to go forward,No Big MC and kosi out of sorts where is the winning score.Rooy will have 15 guys on him?????????????????????????

No effect what so ever, with Big Gardi calling it a day tomorrow with a Premiership medal, Ben will be the Main ruck for us for the next 10 years.Buckets wrote:Could we see him when his contract is out that we will see the back of him? Hypothetically of course.

Shouldn't you be at one the filth's forums tonight? You are one weird person getting their "kicks" continually posting on an opposition team's forum.

We need plenty of ground level players - to apply pressure and soak up the Collingwood pressure.
I'd rather go in with 1 extra mid sized player - as we will be negating a few of their mids - so we need some extra running mids.
I trust this specific game plan for Collingwood.
I'm therefore happy with Gardiner and back up from Blake and Kosi -
