Last Bulldog goal

Post: # 990646Post perfectionist »

Just like in the GF last year, our players seem not to care about kicks after the siren, whether the game is lost or won, yet the opposition does. Anyone standing on the line would have intercepted it. I have never seen it before last year and I don't want to see it a third time.

Why did he bother having a shot? His side just lost a prelim. Seems a bit pointless to me.

It wouldn't affect the outcome of the match.

In a home and away game I think they would defend it, but in finals there is obviously no percentage to worry about.

Was a bit sloppy.
Makes it look closer than it was.
The history books show the final scores, no footnotes on unattended goals after the siren.

Why risk contesting and injuring yourself? Absolutely irrelevant.

nothing worse than conceding a late goal in a game like that - no way we can win next week now

Who cares?

Last year what benefit is there in losing by 6 points rather than 12n the cup reads won by Geelong either way.

As for tonight, we spent a portion of the last qtr with 17 players on the field, once the game was won all that mattered was preparing for next week. Had won by 100, 70 or 1 point the reward is the same a date with the pies next week.

Surely this isn't worthy of a pot shot.

exactly.

I am actually a bit disappointed that too many players made too much of an effort in the last term.

It annoyed me to see players going in full pelt, when an 80% effort would've been enough to avoid injury (go in too soft and you get crunched!).

We could've slacked off a little more and won by 2 goals IMO.......don't obviously want it to get too close in the end though....

Saying that, I enjoyed watching them slow it right down late in the third term and then again in the last.

I am not a betting man but the goal affected the outcome of quite a few bets.

The line betting was 29.5 points. Anyone that backed the Saints at the line would have lost their money on that last goal!

Ironically this was also the case with the Max Rooke goal, the line was 8.5 or 9.5 points.

What's the point??

The game was over. Just shows that Hahn was only thinking about his own stats. What's to defend?

Another opportunity awaits!

Shame really. It will cost the team dearly in percentage (of alchohol) during the end of season drinking competition.

Sloppy. I hate giving anything to oppo teams.

I know we won, but we should have stopped it.

If te scoreline is the same next week - with us up by 5 goals when the final siren sounds - I don't care who has a shot at goal!!!!!

Hahn was just trying to get a stat for himself, to make a pretty average game for himself look better. He'd had a shocker but at least could add that goal to him name. Would have been stopped if someon was on the goal line. Don't think they realized he was going to take the shot.
Made no difference to us, only to the gamblers, who know the risk they are taking when they part with their hard earned.

We had a five man bench for the last five minutes.

Doesn't that also show rampant disregard for the result?

Or is that just about focussing on what's important?

What do you mean?

The result was the same - we won comfortably.

Margin is irrelevant given player management.

As for line betting in finals, do that at your own peril, I'd advise against it......

I was being sarcastic.

We won. Who gives a rat's dick about what Hahn did or didn't do when they were 30 plus down on the siren and our Grannie slot was assured.

I simply don't understand why some on here trawl the absolute bottom of the barrel of negativity just for the sake of saying something.

It is truly weird.
