CJ's surprise stat- Australian- and being #4

Post: # 989898Post saintbrat »

In 13 of his 21 matches this season Jones has had more than 20 disposals, and in three of those matches it has extended to 30, highlighting how important he can be in transition from defence to attack.

"It was quite an honour to be offered that number, so I accepted."

St Kilda's number four was made famous by the brilliant Darrel Baldock, captain and centre half-forward of the club's only premiership side in 1966.

And it was later worn by Barry Breen, the man who kicked that point to ensure the Saints beat Collingwood in the '66 decider before Lockett, the greatest goalscorer in football history, inherited number four in 1988.

"At the Hall of Fame dinner (in July) when Tony Lockett was there I felt a bit embarrassed being among those players," Jones said with a laugh.

"The boys were joking with me that I might have to sneak forward and kick a few more goals now I've got number four. It's a great honour to be wearing number four after guys like Baldock and Breen and Lockett, and a bit embarrassing at the same time."

who'da thunk it huh?

Now a vital part of our team.

Imagine how good he'd be if he could kick!

I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.

I know how Dal feels.

He can. It's a myth that he can't.

Yep. His kicking action makes it seem that he is a bad kick but his field passing 15-30m hits the target most of the time.

After the game last week where he nearly cost Lenny his knee after missing a stationary target 15m away under absolutely zero pressure- care to revisit this 'myth' claim?

FWIW I think he does an outstanding job, but gets himself tied up in unnecessary knots looking for the handball

BJ is basically my favourite saint, he misses targets, they all do it, jones was outstanding in that 3rd quarter last week..

Collingwood obviously considers him a threat judging from the posse they sent after him in Round 3. I hope he tears them up.

Crazy comparison, CJ is not a good kick, its not a criticism or an issue, just a fact. Makes up for it elsewhere and can hit targets if he has time and space.

BJ is a natural with the ball in his hands, he is human and can miss targets but on instinct can pin point 60 metre passes.

Maybe this year?
