This is all good
Collingwood's performance against Geelong tonight is all good for the porspects of the Saints next week. (Assuming we win tomorrow night.)
I think they are playing their Grand Final tonight. They have peaked one week early and will be raging hot favourites for the Granny.
The expectation from the magpie army will be too much. The colliwobbles will infiltrate their minds. The points & mis kicks will return to haunt them instead of tonight's Goals.
The Saints will suffocate their run. They will wonder whats going on.
I love it when the Saints are underdogs.
The Sainst would not have beaten Collingwood tonight. But they will next week.

What we have and Geelong dont and never have had is:
1. Defensive game to match Pies
2. QUALITY TALL MARKING FWDS.
Make no mistake, IF we get the footy in fwd 50 enough (and as bad as we were Rd 16 we still got plenty of ball into our fwd 50....quality is also a key..) and Roo/Kosi hold their marks we can cause Pies chaos. Their defence one out is supect.
The key? - MAKE Maxwell accountable.Play through his man....aka a Jack Steven v Geelong cameo....AND win the ball from the middle.
Collingwood have turned Geelong over in their own fwd 50 so often its not funny. Best way to stop that is to win the centre clearances and hold your marks up fwd.

I wish I felt the same, the fact is seeing Collingwood doing this to Geelong is making me feel ill, I just don't have that good vibe about this what so ever.

Bar injuries, weve our week off ffs. If you want to win a flag....you gotta be prepared to take the hits. Weve had more 6 day breaks than any side this year. I reckon we have the best fitness guru in the game. I too dont want a hard slog......but I reckon

geelong were done...
theyre tired..
3 gfs straight up top ladder
mentally strained theyre getting old
geelongs last ditch effort for the year was against us in the last quarter..
which was caused by demons in our heads i believe
we overcame them demons beat geelong for the first time ever in a final
we are fit and looking good
and i believe we havent shown our cards fully yet unlike collingwood tonight

It's not about Geelong for me, its about how good Collingwood are playing, I am hoping like hell they are playing there GF this week.degruch wrote:Why? I don't want this feeling I can assure you, just don't feel so confident anyome.
Mind you I think if we come out tomorrow night and play the saints footy we know they are capable of and play some great footy. I know I will feel much much better.

Chomping at the bit to see our boys have a crack at the Pies...they've got a pretty lousy record against us in recent years, adding Ball and Jolly doesn't make up for it. We will expose them (if we don't expose ourselves tomorrow night). It'll be the ultimate revenge!Dal_Santos_Gal wrote:It's not about Geelong for me, its about how good Collingwood are playing, I am hoping like hell they are playing there GF this week.degruch wrote:Why? What's even better is that John Sammy Newman will now run to Geelong in a Collingwood jumper and tell the Cats "they're finished"! Sweet.
This result may also make the Doggies less keen to win tomorrow night, knowing that the "prize" would be a likely THRASHING on the biggest stage of all, next week. They may prefer to slip away quietly tomorrow night.

To be fair there were some mitigating circumstances...saintly wrote:if we match well up on them then why did they beat us by 61 points?eppo67 wrote:Pies don't worry me at all l think we match up really well on them.
they unfortunately are faster, younger, and more skilled!

2 game back Roo
Gram was shot.....
Start of our 3 game losing streak??
Sure Pies had us early as they did cats tonight....but I honestly believe we have the better weapons against Pies....

Even in spite of all that, we still kept them to one of their lowest inside 50 counts and scoring shots for the year.
So much to say, I just want to wait until tomorrow is out of the way first.

OK guys, take a deep breath. Collingwood on a high at the moment. Our boys obviously need to win tomorrow night. So when that happens we are in the position of underdogs. Not a bad position to be in - underdogs against the all conquering Pies. They won the home and away season and .. went to Arizona for altitude training, have Eddie McGuire as president. I understand that looks imposing. I think it's important not to be overawed by all of those really strong accomplishments.
