Dawgs $4.50
At Sportsbet anyway and we are $1.21 - can't be too many times that have had those odds (in our favour) for a final. By the way, they are completely ridiculous, even taking into account the usual Saints fan anxiety. I would have thought that $1.60 to $2.00 might be more apt - but - I hope the punters who have backed the Saints are spot on - and from the first quarter.

The bookies have to mitigate the risk of some big payouts to some punters that have heavily backed the saints for the flag. They are down millions if the saints win the flag so the odds for this week could be to throw the barracuda punters circling the saints off the scent and hopefully attract the opportunists towards the dogs.

What makes you say we are the big payout. If that was the case we would be shorter for the flag.Cairnsman wrote:The bookies have to mitigate the risk of some big payouts to some punters that have heavily backed the saints for the flag. there was some large coin put down when the saints blew out to 5s and 6s towards the end of the h&a. This was in addition to some large cabbage laid down when the boys blew out to 8 around the time we lost to port.plugger66 wrote:What makes you say we are the big payout. I assume he's referring to a couple of well publicised big bets on the Saints?plugger66 wrote:What makes you say we are the big payout. I don't know. I'm not a punters bum.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
If that was the case wouldnt they be shorter for the flag. Thats normally how it works.Cairnsman wrote:there was some large coin put down when the saints blew out to 5s and 6s towards the end of the h&a. That is because we are just about certain to get there. The other 2 teams have to play each other. I would talk slowly to you but as i know a bit about punting I will explain it like that.Cairnsman wrote:Y e s p l u g g a 6 6. hey you don't have to tell me you know a bit about punting. I already knew that.plugger66 wrote:That is because we are just about certain to get there. The other 2 teams have to play each other. I'm not a genius when it comes to binary code but if you accept that everything in this world is a organised into zeros and ones then you accept that it is possible to exploit the AFLs socialistic salary cap system.plugger66 wrote:Well I know how to lose well but if you have any hints on collecting please PM me.Cairnsman wrote:hey you don't have to tell me you know a bit about punting. Re: Dawgs $4.50
I just can't imaging the dogs playing off in the GF. It would be a masacre whoever they came up against. When was the last time we went into a GF expecting a team not to have any chance? Dees against Dons in 2000. Roos v Blues in 1999. Even Port would have been given more of a chance in 07.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

betfair reflect where the money is.
if the saints win, on the odds given a few weeks ago, they lose a lot of money.
they are hoping to entice gamblers with long odds for the dogs.
if the dogs then win, they keep the money from the big saints bets, if the saints win, they have money from the dogs supporters to offset the losses.
betfair et al don't care who wins as long as they 1. make a profit, 2 offset any losses.
a couple of well publicised 500k bets at 8.1 will see 4 million plus payouts, hence the long odds for the dogs.
that is all.
