No credit where it's due .. ?
Have noticed today listening to people that we still don't get any credit for what we have done so far this year. A couple of people saying the Bulldogs will knock us off and people thinking we are making up the numbers..? The only thing we can do is win this bloody week and next to show everybody be it the doubter's on here or the general footy follower that we are the real deal. My faith in this team has never been stronger so lets start this week by sending out a warning to whoever wants to listen this year is ours... !!!!

it continues to amaze me-
but interestingly it's former and recently retired former players who give us the most credit.
media almost ignore us..- which can be fine...

How does the perception of 'them' equate to results?
Can anyone explain to me the correlation?
WHO GIVES A f*** WHAT PEOPLE SAY??? AND IF SO, WHY????????

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

I don't think it's worth worrying about. I don't expect attitudes will change much even if we do win it this year. Witness the hogwash around Hawthorn's victory in 2008 against 'the saviours of football as we know it'. The AFL even changed the rules to make it less likely to happen again and this year the incorrect disposal of the ball rule seems to have suddenly vanished into thin air blunting the effectiveness of our tackling pressure. The media have their darlings and we aren't one of them. Stick it right up em Sainters.

I'm just glad that everyone is focussed on the Cats and especially the Filth.
We just need to go about what we have been doing.
Under the radar is the phrase, but right now I am glad that is where we are.

on this topic
saw this headline
BUT in actual fact he does mention the St Kilda- as an add on after every argument.

While St Kilda is seen today as more likely than either Collingwood or Geelong to reach the Grand Final, the winner of the first of the preliminary finals will be expected to go all the way - regardless of the result of the Saints-Western Bulldogs game on Saturday night.
That's just the way it is, even though St Kilda beat Geelong in the first week of finals.
As reliable, as efficient as the Saints are and have been for three years, there's not a lot of love for them outside the extended red, white and black family.

There was some stats on one of those TV footy shows recently.Con Gorozidis wrote:out of interest does anyone know the win loss records for the top 4 teams for the last 50 games each has played??
im guessing we are close to the best ?
I didn't fully catch it so I am not sure exactly what period they were measuring (I thought it was the last two years) of how teams had performed against the top sides (and I don't know what their definition of "top" was)
But we were rated NUMBER ONE.
Not surprising really.
We have won 3 out of our last 4 against Geel, and clearly had the better of Collingwood and the Dogs.
We seem much more likely to slip up against Essendon than a good team.
But don't tell anyone.
Let's keep flying low.
Under the Radar.

very true.ralphsmith wrote:Until we win a grand final, we will get no credit.
We will always be an also-ran.
Always remember that.
even if we beat the Dogs in a canter, the Granny will be very hard for us to win.
Both the Cats and Pies have overall stronger and better teams than us, I don't think there is much doubt about that.
It will come down to mental toughness, will to win, and sticking to structures/game plans etc......that is possibly our edge to even it up, or put us slightly ahead of the other two.

When you do a 'man for man' comparison between the Saints adn Filth I'm not sure I would agree with your perspective that they have an 'overall stronger adn better team'.saintspremiers wrote:very true.ralphsmith wrote:Until we win a grand final, we will get no credit.

Maybe it's true for a comparison with Geelong?, but we've shown consistantly over the past 2 seasons that we're more than capable of matching/beating them also.
