HB: Ryan Hargrave, Tom Williams, Lindsay Gilbee
C: Nathan Eagleton, Daniel Cross, Andrejs Everitt
HF: Robert Murphy, Mitch Hahn, Brad Johnson
F: Daniel Giansiracusa, Barry Hall, Jason Akermanis
Foll: Ben Hudson, Ryan Griffen, Adam Cooney
Int: Dylan Addison, Jarrad Grant, Shaun Higgins, Jordan Roughead
Emg: Matthew Boyd, Josh Hill, Easton Wood
ST KILDA
B: Jason Blake, Zac Dawson, Sam Gilbert
HB: Steven Baker, Sam Fisher, Brendon Goddard
C: Farren Ray, Nick Dal Santo, Raphael Clarke
HF: Andrew McQualter, James Gwilt, Adam Schneider
F: David Armitage, Justin Koschitzke, Stephen Milne
Foll: Michael Gardiner, Lenny Hayes, Leigh Montagna
Int: Jack Steven, Jarryn Geary, Clinton Jones, Steven King
Our team this time will be much stronger and theirs a fair bit weaker.
Roo, Gram, Ben and Peake are all good upgrades.
Baker is a real loss (may play, but if so will lack match-touch).
Raph is a loss, but we have good options down back.

Never feel safe with our current side this season. We beat the very good sides, and lose to the average,so no matter who we are up against,I never feel overly confident.
Having said that,it's a prelim final, and if we can't beat an 80% bulldogs then we don't deserve to win the flag.

Who will they put on Roo? That was the obvious dilemma I saw tonight for them. Williams is a spud of the highest order. Lake is on one leg,and Morris if plays will be massively underdone. Let's hope it's dry,the only way they'll stop Roo is injury/king hitJohnE wrote:The way Williams defended tonight, Kozi or Roo will have a field day next week!

There is little point looking at the round 6 matchup because the coaching staff completely went against their structures of the last 3 years (remember Riewoldt was out) in that game.
We played Zac Dawson at full forward for the first half. Then in the second half S Fisher went forward and Zac went back (S Fisher kicked the winning goal).
Ross Lyon was quoted in the media a few weeks later saying that their strategy in hindsight was "robbing peter to pay Paul" and didn't work (we fell over the line v WB, got smashed by the blues and beat by the bombers).
From that game the tried to keep Dawson, S Fisher, Gwilt, Blake and Gilbert all in the backline.
That's why Stanley debuted in round 9 v WC and we went on a large winning streak (7 games).
Also re the OP: Boyd didn't play. He is in their top 5 players!
And Bob Murphy was playing forward, not back where he has primarily played in the second half of the year.
Too many variables have changed since that game...

Indeed. But if you look at all their ins and outs, and ours IMO their team is weaker and ours stronger.hotdish wrote:

Morris may come back in, but if he does the last player in the AFL you want to match an underdone player on is Roo who is in the best condition he has been in for years.
In last years finals Roo was carrying a knee injury.

Not a bad idea but I would rather play Gilbert on Johno. We could generate quite a bit of run with Gilbo on him as Johno can't run.saintly wrote:i think if you were going to play baker in th finals. play him against johnson. johnson is still injured. and baker is not match fit. but if you want baker in the grandfinal that is where i would play him.

Yep, this one would be giving a lot of Scraggers restless nights.saintspremiers wrote:I reckon the dogs should consider the following change:
OUT: Johno
IN: Akker
Whattya reckon Smorgy???
Bet they are spewing now over that one.....
I reckon Akker too would be feeling a little hollow in missing out on some September action.

I think the Saints should invite him to an official pre match function just to get their goats up a little more perhaps.Sainternist wrote:Yep, this one would be giving a lot of Scraggers restless nights.saintspremiers wrote:I reckon the dogs should consider the following change:
