Which one of our uncontracted players will go to Suns?
Was browsing the Hun and made me think?
Anyone got info on who is out of contract and who is the most likely?
Who do people want to go as well?

None is the word.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

The team doesn't "have" to give up an uncontracted player. The Suns have the "right" to one uncontracted player from each team. Doesn't necessarily mean they will get one from each side. Players can still reject their advances!

A common misconception... GC can take up to 1 uncontracted player.marksnsparks wrote:I thought every team had to give up one player?Thinline wrote:None is the word.
It's likely that they will only take a total of about 8 across the whole league.
That's why talk of Armo being gone are jumping the gun.

I found the article from when we resigned 14, and none of these guys were on that list.matrix wrote:#20 David Armitage = end of 2010 ( may 2008)

I'm surprised there's that many. I was always under the impression that Armo was the only one who was still to sign. I'd want the signatures of all those guys, except King, before the GC gets their claws in.

Besides, why would they spread their spend across 17 so so players when they can attract 7 or 8 better than average ones with big money?
Remember they already have a core of elite level kids.

Spot on. They have their players capable of playing a role, they need big name players to pull the squad together. I think they will focus on the spine for most of their money.Thinline wrote:Exactly.True Blue Sainter wrote:No.marksnsparks wrote:I thought every team had to give up one player?Thinline wrote:None is the word.

I would be. Scoring kids who've been developing with a top team could be quite a pick-up.SaintTom wrote:Spokesman at the Suns say they only want to pick up an optimum of 6-8 uncontracted players throughout the league so it doesn't eat into their draft picks. Wouldn't be surprised if we lose no-one.

Good idea actaully, didn't even consider this. Would be a very good influence on their young group, probably a player all these kids grew up watching. Even a Simon Goodwin type would be a great pickup.Finna wrote:If they're smart they'd take someone from the saints, a retiring player - pies with max - a or current assistantant and get them in the coaching group.

didn't see that. he wouldn't jump ship would he? a saint for life imo.SainterK wrote:Only press I have heard recently, is that they were looking at Milne...can't remember where I read it?
that said, with the sort of money they're throwing around you couldn't blame someone with just a few years left in the game wanting to make the most of it.

You missed this bit Matrix
andmost below are assumption based on standard 2 yr contract and no other announcement
Thanks for your comment.
While it’s a good idea, we like to think that individual contracts are a matter between the player, his manager and the Club. Occasionally we will inform media about contract details, but only for a specific reason.
I don’t really want to alert every other Club to where we are on contract negotiations and timing of contracts - it’s not in our best interests.
All the information is there, but not in a published list so every list manager in the AFL can review and target, no thanks!
We think this is in the best interests of the Club and our list to do it the way we do it now. Hope you understand.
Go Saints!
Archie

Yep. Rumblings to that effect already... They have Michael Coad (gun SAFL CHB who will be a more than handy AFL player, possibly even an excellent one), they've signed Bock who if fit remains an elite level fullback or CHB, they're sniffing around for strong-bodied ruckmen and watch this space re Pavlich. I HONESTLY reckon he's every chance of doing the mercenary thing and coming over for the cash and the whispers I hear are that he and his current coach don't live under the same roof. All the talk's Ablett, but I reckon there'll be a couple of smokies yet...Griggsy wrote:Spot on. They need Gablett as they need one genuine supertsar....they will build all their marketing around him.
Pav has just signed a 3 year deal with a WA Bank....so I don't see him going.
Forget anyone like Milne...they will want players that can play 5 or more seasons....so that when their young kids are men they are still playing with them...they will want a flag remember.
