Thanks Saintbrat. Wasnt going to watch "One Day " but will at least tape it now.
Speaking of that show, I dont think Robert Walls is anywhere near as effective as he was on "On the Couch". Maybe its me, but he just seems to go along with the rest of the panelists, whereas I thought he used to voice his own opinion more often against Mike Sheahan (and Healy) on the other show.
Anyway its all good tonight. You beauty. Go Sainters

Look, we're really united about what we're doing and we've got a common belief that means everyone has to play their part and we're confident that we're on the right track. We don't have the luxury of looking back, or looking too far forward, it's about the here and now, we've achieved our goal making top four and now it's up to us to see how far we can push into September.
Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

Pretty much said the same old things.
Said Baker still remains a chance.
He refused to comment on the free kick and said he hasn't made a whimper about one for 4 years not going to start now.
Said we are a solution based club.
An utter professional in whatever he does.

Nice sentiment...but I nearly fell out of my chair when he said it.
Maybe that's why I like Ross's style
I to like to Find' solutions' rather than worry about the how did we get here- the how do we move forward- or Find the solutions.......... the What's next? Ok that's happened- now onto...

And it is not "corporate speak", it is just that Lyon is avery analytical coach and that Lyon focuses on how he want players, and the team to be.
Ross has always talked very technically...knows his stats backwards etc.
One of his mantras has always been based about playing correctly, and if you do that the result will look after itself.
this has included that players have set performance expectations.
Dal was dropped for it.
So was Ball.
so was Peake whom was tonights Case Study.
Peake is now playing as Lyon wants him to play.

What hits you is just how calm, happy, confident and focused he is in his role and this must rub off on the players.saintsRrising wrote:Why?evertonfc wrote:Remember when GT used to be slated for corporate-speak?

Of course we are all biased but he comes across as a breath of fresh air when compared to the grumpy old man Malthouse, the half dead Thompson and the uninspiring Eade to name a few.

What a fantastic coach. Refuses to be sucked in to trivial junk and just gives his public persona.
He looked very relaxed tonight but I'm sure behind closed doors he's working like a demon to take us one step better this year.

I think whats being lost in translation here is Lyon has the ability to back up his spin with facts/figures. I am genuinely amazed at how often after a loss he is able to specifically indicate in real football terms where we broke down.evertonfc wrote:Yes, it is.saintsRrising wrote:Why?evertonfc wrote:Remember when GT used to be slated for corporate-speak?

Grant used spin, and then hid behind the intangibles "its mental toughness again" - all true but all very triring after a while and it smelt of someone who maybe didnt have anymore tricks in his bag other than the parochial supporter come coach.
Anyway lets not open those years again.....but it is how I see the vast difference between the 2 and Lyons use of the language (and he does know some bingo terms himself..)
