My thought's on Last nights game.

Post: # 982180Post Calais »

Woke up this morning with a massive grin on my face. Last night's game was an absolute ripper. When Ling kicked that goal it felt like de ja vu and it was last year's GF all over again.

A few observations from last night -

Milney CAN play a good finals game! - Those three goals set us up beautifully, stood up under pressure. Played well in the middle aswell. Love the little man.

Riewoldt was a man on a mission! - This was his first game against the cats since the grand final last year. From the opening bounce it was evident he had one thing on his mind. Such a gutsy player with a big heart, really dont understand why he cops so much flack from opposition supporters

Lenny = Lenny - Absolute heart and soul of this club. There isn't much to say that hasn't already been said. Elite!

Schneider stood up when we really needed him! - We all remember his misses last year in the GF and with that one goal I think he drowned all those sorrows! Will be a confidence booster for sure. Love this man and think he'll be our X factor this final series

Do we give Joey enough credit? - Wasn't a massive possession game for him but I think some of his work in close goes unnoticed. Goes in hard and low and got a lot of crucial ball last night. Very very important player with good finishing skills.

Kosi tore Scarlett a new one! - Well in the first half anyway. Played really well and was crucial, his off the ball work was magnificent as well. His a special part of this team and is waiting for that special game to take it by the scruff of the neck. Too early to call Norm Smith?

Peak > Lovett!! - This man has grown grown and grown! Happy to see he has stepped up. Damaging player that can break the lines and did so last night. Wish he had a left foot though.

I'm probably leaving out many many more but dammit I'm happy. Go the Sainters! Were in a good position - GO THE SAINTS

Ross Lyon as a tactical coach.

putting milne in the middle of the ground to get him involved in the game quickly! and yeah it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

last week against adelaide in the last quarter, in a pressure situation, the saints practiced to play keepings off in adelaides forward line. guess what. the last quarter this week over 5-7 minutes the saints under pressure used the lesson well from the week before.

I agree 100% with every point made in this thread so far.

I'd like to add Eddy's attack on the ball and the constant 'team first' attitude he plays with.

Agree with all this.

Riewoldt's supercharged V8 to Harry Taylor's two stroke was a joy to behold.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
