If Friday is a wet match, who are the Saints best wet weather footballers?

The weather could alter who is in our 22.

Apart from if it rains or not I note that the predicted dew point temperature is 11 degrees. So that promises wet and slippery conditions...

Your thoughts?

We beat them last time in the wet quite convincingly.

We didn't have Roo, they didn't have Chapman.

All tall forwards were rendered useless.

Chapman would certainly be a bigger boost to their side then Roo would be to ours in those conditions.

I doubt weather will alter the selection significantly. We'll pick two rucks, two tall forwards and our tall defenders. Other than that it'll be all runners, wet or dry. I think if Armo's in wet, Armo's in dry.

I don't think Geelong will do much selecting for the conditions either.

I think our best wet-weather footballers are (in no particular order):

Hayes
Goddard
Schneider
Baker

Armitage seems like he'd be a good wet-weather footballer too, but I haven't seen him enough in those sort of conditions.

Ablett and Chapman go pretty well in the wet too.

But we have clearly seen that we can match it with them in the wet- I think our defensive style is suited to wet weather footy. We are most vulnerable against the fast-break from the oppostion defence, and it is very difficult to move the ball quickly with precision in the wet.

I'd take the wet any day of the week v Geelong.

He was the best I'd ever seen, until a game earlier in the year in the rain which Selwood just tore to shreads. He looked a class above everyone else. Like an AFL player in the VFL.

I think I remember the game, Selwood did dominate.

But Bartel has consistently dominated wet-weather games for a number of years. I remember reading an article that showed his statistics and output improved considerably in the wet - in nearly every facet of his game. He just relishes it...

Bartel over Selwood at the moment IMO (not much between them though) - although Joel has time on his side to prove to me he's as good as Jimmy in the wet consistently!

Don't underestimate Roo in the wet.

If it is wet on Friday night he will show just how much better he is than the Mooney and Hawkins types. They will be just about useless in the wet, but Roo is a class above, and good a ground level.

I have a feeling that if anyone can kick a bag in the wet, it will be him.

Credit where it's due, Bartel and Selwood are incredibly good wet weather footballers.

However we get Baker back, and I think our talls (Roo Kos Gardi and Mac) are all capable in wet conditions.

Also, and I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned, but a certain backman with Papuan heritage suddenly becomes All-Australian when it rains!!

Jimmy was solid all night and most likely BOG, but Stevn turned the match on it's head completely.
