I will get abused for this because I didnt even see the game but Miles will not play next week. There is an order to who gets dropped and he is second behind Heyne.

Heyne was about as effective as Lynch was a few weeks back.

Miles was, well, miles ahead of both.

Looked the real deal. Very assured, confident, safe with his hands and feet and moved really well. Showed plenty of courage at times too.

Really good to see.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Will definately stay in before Heyne or armitage IMO, Would not be surprised to see Hayes and Jones in at the expense of Dal and Joey next week to be honest, Baker is also eligible to play next week? or first week of the finals?

IMO Miles could actually go past Geary in 2 weeks of footy?

Maybe this year?

He was willing to talk to his team mates, yell out to set up etc which some first gamers may be shy about doing.
He thinks and assesses the situation well, for instance there was a long bomb deep to the tigers forwards and instead of launching himself into the pack he noticed Taylor coming in from the side and went and blocked him legally from having a good crack at the mark uncontested.
I also like that he was confident enough to take them on. I love it. Big fan.
Good call.

I too remember that NAB game and was impressed with him then and today again......clearly has the ability to cut it at AFL level....it will now be about consistency.....get that going and weve found something..
He played a great first game...good on him. He will surely retain his place on the list for next year.
Doubt he will play finals, but you never know. If Baker doesn't come up, there may be a spot for him.

Certainly looked very comfortable and not at all like a nervous first gamer. A very good sign. Far exceeded any expectations I had for him. Ross gave him a big rap on his interview on MMM before the game. Saying he was extremely quick, and would definately have played before now if not for issues he'd had with stress fractures.
I look forward to seeing more of him.

I was absolutely stoked with Miles' poise and how well he read the game for a debut performance, and as someone mentioned his willingness to direct traffic and do the one-percenters. A long way to go but an extremely exciting first up effort, well done...

His attack on the ball was extremely impressive. Definitely did more than I expected him to! I've seen him play a fair bit & didn't expect him to look that comfortable on the big stage! Well done!

Look forward to Miles getting game time and good performances next year.

On that performance, definately worth elevation at the end of the year.

I thought Miles was the best debut of the season and best of the younger player from the VFL outright.

YES!!!!

Actually attacked the ball and wasn't afraid to back himself, didn't look like a deer in the headlights like Dawson does when he gets the ball!!!!

They play completely different roles... You can't compare a full back stopper to a running flanker. He's the same mould as Gram or Gilbert. Not a Blake or Dawson.

vacuous space wrote:I was really impressed by his game, but once again awed by his athleticism. His vertical leap is absurd. I don't think he did anything particularly special with it in that game, but it's pretty clear he can launch himself a lot higher than most. Maybe not BJ. I did say 'most'.

Those who want more speed must have been impressed too. I kept wondering if he might have been a better matchup for Cotchin than Dempster.
+1

i know dempster is popular on this forum (probaby cos he is god looking) but he wll be a massive liability come finals time.

agree - zac is 195cm. a serious tall. so zac shoul be used to cover genuine talls (ottens, hawkins, fanklin ).

I was impressed. Good on him, he worked hard to gain his chance and showed what he is worth out on the field.

Good things to come from Miles for sure
