Is Armo going to Sign
Is David going to sign a new contract for us or does he want to go back to Queensland. I hope he stays but if we lose him i hope we get something good in return.

Who would you like to lose???
They wont take a complete 'no-name'
Our back 6 are required and a couple too old..
Blake, Dawson, Baker, Gwilt, Fisher, Gilbert
Then the other defenders probably required
R.Clarke, Dempster, Geary
Then the developers
Simpkin, Walsh, Miles
The same goes with this mid group
Goddard, Dal Santo, Montagna, Hayes, Jones, Gram, Ray, Peake
Next
Armitage, , Steven*, Smith
Rucks
Gardiner, McEvoy, Kosi*
Next
Pattison
Developing
Stanley
Then the fwds
Milne, Riewoldt, Kosi, Schnieder, McQualter
Next
Steven*, Stanley, Eddy,
Developers
Heyne, Lynch
Not good enough at this stage or gone - GC would not touch
Gaertner, Johnson, King, McGrath, Hutchings, Archer, Cahill, J.Smith, L.Fisher...
So who do we give up....I just hope it isn't a surprise 'A-Grader'
The worrying thing is the lack of next tier mids and developing mids....Steven will probably move there, but I can only see two, and if Armo goes....we are heavily relient on no injuries.
We need to recruit at least 4 new players (3 mids/1Tall) in a comprimised draft and add another 2 rookies....

They cannot have uncontracted players otherwise we could still lose Rooy. You do get compensation if you go if uncontracted.BigMart wrote:I was of the knowledge that GC had access to one player (Contracted or not) from every club....if the player is contracted, then the club must be compensated with a speculative DP determined by the AFL???
Nathan Bock has already signed as an uncontracted therefore Adelaide recieve zero for him.

I doubt GC will get a player from each club (or at least players that each club will have wanted to have retained).
I reckon they will have focused on 6-8.
Bock is one. Most likely Krakouer, Brown and the Doggies player.
So that is 4.
Ablett is still unknown...if he has signed he will take a huge chunk of their $$$.
Armo...who knows??? Despite all the rumours the fact is that this year that he has had several runs of injuries and this would be a large part of what has kept him out of the 22 for more games this year.

nah they can get one uncontracted player from every side without having to go through the trading process. The AFL has set up a process where clubs will get a draft pick depending on the players age, B&F etc.BigMart wrote:I was of the knowledge that GC had access to one player (Contracted or not) from every club....if the player is contracted, then the club must be compensated with a speculative DP determined by the AFL???

Hence why armo and ray are the only ones we could lose

Contracted players are contracted. That is why clubs have been signing up their stars.
Ablett has no contract for next year, nor did Bock.
The Crows signed Tippet last year as they were fearful that the GC would want a local boy, and Tippet was in white hot form last year.
Uncontracted players who go will result in a compensating draft pick going to that club. In most cases that compensation is bugga all though.

Which would be his advantage. ie He is ready to play now.saintlee wrote: he's been in the system for like 5 years now
They have a big stockpile of very young players. They need some ready to pla players go with it.
It will also bea case of who says yes to them.
Obviously they will have preferred better players, but Armo may be someone who is willing to sign with them.
They gain he may not.
A lot of the speculation is because he is from Qld...but is from Mackay which is what about 1000Km from the GC.
If Armo sees that it will be very hard for him to get in the seniors next year, he may decide to go if GC give him a good offer.

That is my understanding of the situation, and that is why Geelong pushed hard for the system to be altered. They stand to receive 2 x Top Ten picks for G. Ablett if he elects to go. We'd probably get a 3rd rounder for Armo !!plugger66 wrote: You do get compensation if you go if uncontracted.
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

That window was a 2 week period in October last year. It was rumoured at the time that they signed 8 players including Bock, Brown, Harbrow, Brennan and Armitage (can't remember the others).gringo wrote:I think what happened with Bock was that he effectively walked with out involving the club. Equivalent to quitting and signing elsewhere. The gold coast had a clause that meant they could sign players in a small window. This leaves clubs uninvolved in the trade process.
We will find out more as clubs wind up their season !!

For what it's worth, I have it on very good authority that NO Saints are in GC's sights.
The same source told me weeks ago Bock was on his way north.
I now have no reason to disbelieve him re our boys.

I don't think GC will take any of our players either, pretty much all our quality players are secured, the rest probably arn't of interest to GC anyway.Thinline wrote:For what it's worth, I have it on very good authority that NO Saints are in GC's sights.

I would say we are more likely to lose players to GWS than GC...

This is the post that I wanted to read. I am happy with this response and will hold Thinline personally responsible if this doesn't turn out true.Thinline wrote:For what it's worth, I have it on very good authority that NO Saints are in GC's sights.
