My favourite Saints player when I was growing up. What a champion he was. Would have been one of the greats if that tradegy did not happen at the Junction Oval that day in May, '62. I was selling tarax drinks and polly waffles and will never forget the quiet that came over the ground when Bill did his knee.

Just looking at the team posted by Oldtimer reminds me what a good team we had in those days and unfortunately how few of those young players were left in 1966.

Heartfelt condolences to the Stephenson family and friends.
