1pm Sunday start - I love it!
I hope we get a few more 1pm starts - way better than Twilight rubbish.
Got home at 4.45pm, plenty of time before dinner, dealing with kids/bedtime etc.
Next season I'm expecting these slots:
Saturday 1.10pm, 3.10pm, 4.10pm, 7.10pm (Melbourne time)
Sunday 1.10pm, 4.40pm and 3.10pm
Be nice to have a few 1.10 Saturday games!
The reason we will need 1.10 Saturday games is to accomodate the Saturday twilight fixture IMO.

3.10 Saturday will be the time. Expect plenty of Monday and few Thursday games. Dont think Saturday twilight will happen.saintspremiers wrote:I hope we get a few more 1pm starts - way better than Twilight rubbish.

You obviously didn't have to cross back over the Westgate! Big hold up there, but still back home in Sleepy hollow by 6.30.saintspremiers wrote:I hope we get a few more 1pm starts - way better than Twilight rubbish.

I quite like the early sunday games too.

I pity those that live out west and have to deal with that stupid bridge.
They should start tolling it again to raise funds to build a road tunnel under the river.

bums on seats count here for the club mate!kosifantutti23 wrote:5AM start was tough. Think of the poor European fans.
plenty of dedicated country Sainters appreciate the early Sunday start as against the dreaded twighlights
Country trains/busses from Southern Cross are practically all gone by 6.30 pm Sunday nightb and long drives home either by car or supporter group busses make for a very late arrival home with work and school next day!!
the eff'n TV dollar is a prime motivator for Zig and Zag at tha AFL and the footy paying public don't seem to come into their equations
They may have to introduce cardboard cutt-out crowds shortly if they are not careful

Geez it makes for a tough watch on telly though...all that shadow with the cameraman constantly shifting the lens to brighten the image.Enrico_Misso wrote:Not used to daylight footy.
Especially with the roof open!
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

I liked it. Was great getting out for the day, footy, doing some light shopping after, being home to cook dinner, bed early.
The roof needs to be closed though (1. it was freezing - ok im a sook. 2. the glare was a nightmare)
My dad had seats on level 2 just behind the port goals, he said between the sun and and the lights being on he couldnt see a thing- ended up passing on the seats and went up to level 2.

The Tiger and the Lion may be more powerful, but the Wolf does not perform in the circus.

The government spent $1B on myki...
we could have had that road tunnel
Don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear, run down there and light the bloody thing yourself!

It appears ppl voted with their feet. I know Port have a woeful following, but I would have thought we would have got somewhere b/w 25-30 grand to the game. That crowd figure was North Melbourne esque like. Felt like a Sunday picnic with the sun out. Didn't feel like a footy game to me. Ppl were politely clapping rather than barracking (probably the non competitive game had something to do with that as well)
Having said all that, I will be taking my daughter along in 2 weeks when we play the tiges on a Saturday at 1.10 p.m. Like other s have said- very convenient.
