He has been in the midfield a lot in recent weeks, and looks like he is enjoying it, I've had him in the votes heaps in recent times.
Not only is his midfield work good, he delivers the ball inside 50 beautifully.
I'll be the first to admit that I was on his case a bit early in the season, but to his credit, he has (along side Gwilt) been someone who has taken their game to another level this year.
He doesn't leave anything out there, good on him.

Re: Schneider
Agreed. Looks fit for the first time in his Saints career. Best four quarter effort today - was running the match. Getting possesions where and when it matters.jonesy wrote:Career best game for mine.

You're right, he looks fit, the running aspect of his game was fantastic...Saints43 wrote:Agreed. Looks fit for the first time in his Saints career. Best four quarter effort today - was running the match. Getting possesions where and when it matters.jonesy wrote:Career best game for mine.

I think I remember reading in one of the newspapers just before the season started, that this was the first preseason he has ever had that wasn't interrupted with injury?

Re: Schneider
That's quite possible. I always called him 'fat guts' prior to this season. He did some great things but then would do something so lazy that it would just make you shake your head. Has looks a lot trimmer and has spent more time 'in the game' this year (and has been in the middle a bit which would help). He's a really smart player - he could make a real difference to the club for a long time considering his age.SainterK wrote:I think I remember reading in one of the newspapers just before the season started, that this was the first preseason he has ever had that wasn't interrupted with injury?

Schneider has thrived on the summer training program. It is the first time in five years he has not had post-season surgery.
His NAB Cup form has been excellent, highlighted by extended stints in the midfield.
"I've had the opportunity in there, which is something I've always wanted to do," he said.
"It's pretty hard to get in with Lenny Hayes, (Leigh) Montagna, (Nick) Dal Santo and (Brendon) Goddard and those guys.
''If I get the opportunity to get in there for five minutes (during the season), I'll definitely love it and make the most of it. I just have to wait and see and play whatever role 'Rossy' wants me to play for the team."
Schneider looks slimmer than in previous years, but asked if he had lost weight, he laughed. "I've had a few people ask me that, but I've actually put on a kilo. I'm heavier than I've ever been playing footy," he said..
"It must be the new pre-season jumpers. I think the full pre-season has made a big difference, getting the body more toned and into it."

His work rate has improved out of site. He is playing the same role he played in the intra club and NAB series in the preseason.
He looks dangerous... I guess the blessing of having the likes of Goodard, Dal, Hayes, Joey, Fish, Gilbert etc you cant tag them all so some players will evade a tag most weeks...
Will be interesting to see how he responds to added pressure from a tag as he has been the catalyst for a lot of scoring shots in the past 4-6 weeks IMO...
His game today justified my frustration at him over the past 2 years. Obviously cant play like that everyweek, but solid efforts and a high work rate WILL see him and his teammates rewarded...

Mine too...SaintWodonga wrote:I think he leads the competition with goal assists, which is brilliant! My fav of the players recruited from another club.
Although I have to say, Peake is getting better and better each week. IF he could only kick on his wrong side, that would be th icing on the cake.
Just think midway through the year, people were thinking Schneider was useless.

Lyon wanted more midfield options that could run and carry...deliver the ball well and kick goals.
Schneider has stepped up to the plate this year.
When he wins the ball in the midfield he is dangerous with it. his current form is a huge plus for us, as mids that kicked and created goals has been our weakness.
Peake, as an extra run and carry mid, is also starting to come along nicely now. His teaming with other players is really starting to click, and he knows when and where to run now. early in the year he was getting caught. Now he is finding the space. His tackling has been a pleasant surprise for a guy that is meant to be an "outside" player.
With Gram now starting to find touch again the balance of our midfield is looking very good. Gram, Peake, Ray and Joey give us a lot of midfield run.
Just need Joey to rediscover his 2009 form.

i like that be backs himself to take the shot rather than trying to spot up riewoldt every time.supersaints wrote:Good to have a another midfield option who is so dangerous going forward
hes really starting to fire......
hopefully a few others will follow suit and decide to take the best option. ie, if you are in a good position to kick it yourself, take the shot.
