Where do we want the cats to finish
If the dogs win the next 2 games and we win next week the cats could finish fourth. Is that our preferred option. It certainly is mine.

Re: Where do we want the cats to finish
i'm as worried about collingwood and the dogs as i am about the cats.
all very good sides, but sides we have beaten this year.
i don't care where the cats finish.

I can handle us playing the Dogs or Cats though....prefer Footscray.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
At least we control that situation. 3 wins and we cant play them.saintspremiers wrote:umm, I would shyte myself if we had to play the Pies in week 1 of the finals.GoTheTorp wrote:As long as we finish top 4 who cares who we play, we are either good enough or we are not.

that scenario was nicely worded.maverick wrote:Have not thought of that scenario, but i like it, a lot...plugger66 wrote:If the dogs win the next 2 games and we win next week the cats could finish fourth. Is that our preferred option. It certainly is mine.
but that involved the dogs beating the cats with serious ladder positions on the line.
i'd back the cats to win 9 times out of 10.

Don't get too excited yet......we beat an absolute rabble today that had lost about 10 on the trot this year.GoTheTorp wrote:Seroisly if we can rol the best week in week out we have the flag, easy aint it?saintspremiers wrote:umm, I would shyte myself if we had to play the Pies in week 1 of the finals.GoTheTorp wrote:As long as we finish top 4 who cares who we play, we are either good enough or we are not.

IF we win comfortably against North AND Richmond, then I'm happy to sound more positive about going deep into September.

Ahh no excitement yet, too many years supporting the Saints eh and even if we roll the next 2 sides makes no difference come Septembersaintspremiers wrote:Don't get too excited yet......we beat an absolute rabble today that had lost about 10 on the trot this year.GoTheTorp wrote:Seroisly if we can rol the best week in week out we have the flag, easy aint it?saintspremiers wrote:umm, I would shyte myself if we had to play the Pies in week 1 of the finals.GoTheTorp wrote:As long as we finish top 4 who cares who we play, we are either good enough or we are not.

Look at it this way: Collingwood is in absolute peak form at the moment.
In a month and a half, it is very unlikely they will still be in such peak form.
So might be better to play the Pies later in the finals series, e.g. the Prelim.
We've gotta beat three of the Dogs, Pies and Cats to win the flag, so it doesn't really matter which order it is in.
Would still prefer to avoid the Cats until the big one, as IMO they are the best side in the comp, and the best finals side.

Re: Where do we want the cats to finish
Dogs actually have to win this weeks first. Cuurently can't shake off the Crows.plugger66 wrote:If the dogs win the next 2 games and we win next week the cats could finish fourth. Is that our preferred option. It certainly is mine.
Anyway I would rather play Cats week one. Win, and we match up ok against them and most likely we get to play the Dogs in the PF fora GF spot.

Unless Freo works themselves into the top-4, there's no circumstance that would have us travelling at any point in the finals. In that sense, there's no advantage to finishing second over third, as the teams you'd play are exactly the same in the same place. Even first is a questionable distinction as long as all the teams are melbourne teams.
We've made finals. Any combination of two St Kilda wins or Fremantle losses locks up a top-4 spot. After that, it's a case of beat who's in fron tof us, and I have no preference as to who we play in what order. I just want to be the last team standing at the end of it all.
