What problem would you rather have?

Post: # 967175Post SainterK »

We have at times struggled to get the ball inside 50 at all this year, where our problem on Friday night was capitalising when we did in fact go inside.

Inside 50's over the last 3 weeks has seen us steadily improve

Rd 16 - StK 38 Col 43
Rd 17 - StK 43 Haw 52
Rd 18 - StK 52 Ess 45

Personally I'd much rather know Ross is working on the problem we had against Essendon, than returning to the problems we had earlier in the season (and against Collingwood) where we struggled to get in there at all.

Multiple targets, K. That, together with intense effort, are the missing pieces.

How many times against Essendon did we bomb to a cluster of six or seven players with the blonde guy two deep in there somewhere.

Were we ignoring Lynch, Kosi, or Milne? Or were they not playing smart?

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Or were the Bombers putting so much [perceived] pressure on our entries that our guys were being rushed into making bad decisions and going for the obvious target as opposed to the best one?

The intensity needs to lift, but the quality of the delivery does as well.

For the record, some of our worst delivers of the ball were Joey and Gram who had most of their F50 entries rebound.

Much better uses of the ball inside 50 were Roo and Goddard, both had minimal rebounds.

Roo needs to play higher up the ground, and everything should correct itself IMO. He can is a good user of the ball and can nail some passes to those guys you mentioned, and also kick a few himself if the opportunity presents.

Gram is the master of useless long bombs to nobody.

But gee he looks good when he does it.

I'd like to see someone stand up and convert those inside 50s. Not naming anyone, but.....

Criticising our team members?

Very poor effort, Bernard.

They are not deliberately missing.

Agree with the multiple targets solution, but of course it means nothing without precise execution.

Great avatar btw Thinline. Reckon it truly captures the collective vibe of most of our supporters since Friday night, and the coach too it seems. Great to see Ross letting it all out.

Yeah, a target 17 times for 2 goals is a little wasteful :P

That is quite offensive, Bernard.

if you dish it out, be prepared to accept it back.
