From the AFL website:-
Charges Laid:
Campbell Brown, Hawthorn, has been charged with a level three striking offence against Nick Dal Santo, St Kilda, during the first quarter of the round 17 match between Hawthorn and St Kilda, played at Etihad Stadium on Friday July 23, 2010.

In summary, his previous poor record means that his two-game sanction must remain at two games, even with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a level three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of two matches suspended within the last three years, which increases the penalty by 20 per cent to 270 demerit points. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to 202.50 points and a two-game sanction.
I wonder what Brown needed to do to be charged with 'high impact'?
Maybe he needed to put Dal's nose through the back of his head, because breaking it was only assesed as 'medium impact'?

Totally agree, MM. Dal looked like he was hit by a truck on Saturday night at the Hall of Fame.

I reckon the AFL should be cited by the Surface Review Panel. Absolute disgrace on Friday night.

about right. would've been pretty stiff for him to go for 4 weeks on something that is more reckless than intentional.. though i do hate him.

but medium contact just makes you wonder if brown would've had to kill dal to get high impact :s

His record can't be much better than Bakes?

Another case of the MRP deciding how many weeks he should get and manipulating the categories until it sounds about right.

So let me get this right.

Two players with form.

One gets 12 weeks for doing no actual damage.

Another gets two weeks for deliberately and intentionally splattering a ball player's nose right across his face.

Hmmm

He tried to hit him, saying he lined up a nose that wasn't in his field of vision is a bit much. Stupid, deserved two weeks, but didn't deserve more than that. And what's with everyone hating Browny? He's a good character I reckon, and I've got no problem with someone with a bit of mongrel in them. Although I may be a tad biased here.

Hmmm...I thought it was impossible to prove Brown deliberately struck NDS?

Doubter should have know better, since when do you need to prove anything with the MRP, they cast judgements according to what papers say, don't they?

There was an element of "Make it look like an accident".

Of course, but not everything that looks like an accident IS an accident, just like a natural arc doesn't look like someone improving their goal-kicking angle by 4 meters...just depends on how you look at it.

That's what I thought until I just saw the replay on the tele.

I was way, way wrong.

Difference between that and Stevie J on Baker? Zilch.

Should have been 4 wk minimum.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Just sick of the media hypocrisy and looking after their favorite teams.

Watched Quartermain (whose a monster nerd/flog) whingeing cause poor old Campbell Brown got 2 weeks and the MRP inconsistency.........where was the outcry you pathetic felcher when Baker gets done for supposedly targeting an injured player while others got away with it?

Even Luke Darcy indicated there was no way Browns action was an accident.......pr!ck was lucky for mine absolute fitlhy pr!ck.......yet Baker gets targeted.

If you cant hide/temper your club allegiances get the F@RCK out of the media and stick to your coke fuelled parties you weird little squib.

Nothing wrong with soft drink, but you'd think someone of his age would have some grog available.

And you won't - he's as weak as piss............

Conspicuous by his absence when the indefensible S Baker farce was rolled out as well.

Credit him with being smart enough to know when the BS is so deep even he can't wield the AFL issue shovel to any effect.

Went searching for the incident on the game analyser on the afl website. 2 weeks is very soft. Thought it was accidental in the game but seeing it again shows that was no falling motion and was completly intentional out of frustration. The only accidental part about it was he wouldn't have known where he was hitting Dal but thats no excuse. Should have been high impact no doubt.
