Gilbert or Jones
We have been beaten badly through the midfield over the last couple of weeks at centre bounces
Two options
Gilbert - Instead of leaving him with a hard tag down back throw him onto the ball for a period to mix it up. Hard at it, only knows one way. Sure he could win a clearance or two.
Jones - Let him free and play him as an offensive onballer. He made his name in WA as a pure onballer (Albeit in a softer league). Leaves a hole on the tagging front as you would need to rely on Dempster, Geary or A.Smith to take up the slack.
Worth a try for mine.....

If sides want to tag Gilbert, I say let them.
I'd rather have Fisher with the ball. I'd rather have Gwilt with the ball. I'd rather have Raph with the ball. Heck, I'd rather have Dempster with the ball.
Gilbert does lots of good things, including running. While he makes a great loose man for defensive reasons, his offensive work is not up to making a big deal of it if the opposition manages to get an opponent on him.

Agree. He's good enough.plugger66 wrote:No let him work through it in his best position.SydneySainter wrote:Gilbo up forward to break a tag?

I wonder if Jones could play a pure clearance role? We know his disposal is not of the likes of say Goddard or Dal Santo - so maybe his role (if given a break from tagging) could be to win the hard ball in the centre and bomb it forward quickly.
He does win possessions and strikes me as the type of inside player who could possibly do this quite effectively.
