Hayes among five key signings for the Saints

Brendon Goddard has reached a two-year agreement with the Saints, taking him to the end of 2012 when he becomes a free agent under the new AFL rules. The deal is understood to have elevated him to No. 2 on the St Kilda pay scale behind captain Nick Riewoldt.

And All-Australian midfielders Nick Dal Santo and Leigh Montagna have also committed to the club, with Montagna understood to have signed until the end of 2012 and Dal Santo reported to have negotiated an agreement until the end of 2013. The club is also expected to announce a new deal with another player in its formidable midfield unit, Jason Gram.

Hope this hasn't been posted already, but some great news, especially given that Dal Santo's contract ended this year if I remember correctly!

Great news and reward for effort for our champion Lenny, and nice that GWS can't even attempt to tear him away (not that I'd think he'd go)

Dal and Gram are nice to have all settled, given they were some of the bigger unsigned names on the market.

I thought Joey and Goddard had been announced already, couple of months back?

That just leaves Kosi and Armitage unsigned now doesn't it?

Though it seems Gram's announcement is close going off that article.

So Kosi, Bakes, Blake and Armo....plus maybe some kids.

Nice to lock them all away, hard to do though.

Why havent we tried to sign anyone beyond 2012 besides Dal??

Free agency is going to be no good for us, or anyone from a club point of view!!

Why would a player voluntarily sign beyond 2012? There's every chance the salary cap will go up at that point. Until the new agreement with the AFLPA is signed, I doubt we'll see many sign past that date.
