http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/sp ... 5888235169ST Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt will return from serious injury and play against Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday night.
Almost three months to the night Riewoldt severely damaged a tendon above his right hamstring against Collingwood in round three, the champion forward only has to get through training this week to be selected on Thursday night.

got a mate coming over to drink and watch the Collingwood game with me, Should be good
I think he would have to be 100% ready otherwise they would not play him, we keep winning anyway.

Mind you he could stand in the goal square on one leg and still would flog his opponent
Its all good, remember how we were written of after the filth game, they must have forgot who our coach is

I think it's odd.
Instead of a normal recovery process he has a two hour flight to look forward to after the game.
Would have thought one more week would have been the way to go, as we are constantly reminded premierships are won in July and they definitely aren't handed out after games against sides that have won one of their last 10 games.

Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friends.

I think they would rather ease him back this week rather than in a high pressure blockbuster against Collingwood.
He will be able to spend time on the bench and perhaps play 70% game time, and get a bit of match conditioning before Round 16.
As far as the air travel -he flew to Perth for both West Coast and Fremantle games during rehab.

Can see your point, but if he is ready now I cant see them waiting because its an interstate game or a game against the filthlongtimesaint wrote:I think they would rather ease him back this week rather than in a high pressure blockbuster against Collingwood.

Not just the travel, but the supposed condition on the ground......seems strange to pick this game.
In saying that, I get the following week will be full of epectation, huge game big stage and Roo might kill himself to belt the filth......
Im not paid enough to worry bout this. Thank Allah.

You could get spooked either way guys.
Round 14- Don't bring him back on the shifting surface at Etihad where he did the original injury
Round 15- Don't play him at the Gabba, it's a 2 hour flight and a hard ground
Round 16- Don't pick him against Pies, huge game, massive expectation, too much risk
Round 17- Ditto
Sooner or later you have to just pick him and see how it goes.
If fit he is surely of no greater risk on one ground at one time against one team then at any other stage.

Brisbane are playing for their season this weekend.bozza1980 wrote:I think it's odd.

They can be a physically draining side and despite their form line and injury toll they still have plenty of matchwinners running around. Off our guard and they'll pounce.
Last weekend was a sloppy, first gear effort. Solid enough, encouraging in ways, but skills had a round edge rather than the normal sharp one.
I'm setting the Brisbane game up as a real benchmark.
A ground we play poorly at, a proud desperate club as opposition but an opposition that could really wilt in the face of our game plan applied well.
And then there's getting Roo through unscathed.
We win and win with effort we shore up a top eight spot, skip three games clear of both Blues or Dogs, depending on the result in that game and set ourselves beautifully for a genuine eight pointer against the Pies a week later.
The Pies will be steaming from the ears after that 4.17 effort in Rd 3.
We want to be ready.
I think we will be.
Their form has been steady.
Ours has improved markedly.
But first things first. KILL OFF THE LIONS.
