The report from the MRP when looking at that particular incident was that the contact to Pears was not deemed excessive enough, they didn't look even look at it from a misconduct perspective.

They better bloody take this further!!

How did he know he was injured? He had no trainers around him, or was it the fact he then went up and took a big overhead mark that was a giveaway... or maybe the fact he played out the rest of the game.

or maybe Baker is also a qualified doctor and saw the x-rays of the said broken hand..
Xray vision. Clearly.

Selective corruption.

What horseshit.

This has become farcical.

So Baker is expected now to know that Johnson is injured and not just feigning an injury.

Where does it stop?

If this does not get dropped tonight then any player going into a game with taped arms, legs, and god forbid shoulders will not allowed to be touched.

I am going out now to invest in shares of Johnson and Johnson!

Mummify them. Leucoplast everywhere. Makes sense.

Send our whole team out looking like mummies and the opposition won't be allowed to lay a hand on us!

Talk about covering their backs. They can be as inconsistent and whatever-the-hell-else they like by not letting clubs introduce precedents. With precedent, he might not have been cited for some of the striking and he certainly would've got off on the misconduct. What utter crap. They're a law unto themselves. Precedent is integral to almost anything that happens in the real world. Where the hell does the MRP live?

Well if he was injured then Geelong should be charged with endangering the safety of a player. This is an absolute disgrace.

This means all players with any taping will have to be treated with kid gloves just in case....

There is still some hope they haven;t ruled out appealing and I hope they do. This sets a very scarey precedent.

Saints still deliberating
MattThompsonSEN ; Saints argue carry over pts shouldn't accumulate in terms of suspension, and #Baker should get a 7 match ban and 220 odd carry over pts.
which is the same as happened previously- he got the 7 last time because he somehow had over 100 points carrying over- maybe there was disgression then and they allowed it
Saints fighting for just 7 weeks

Yes. Interesting double standard.

Oh and Scott Thompson and Hall.

Judd and Pavlich.

I am really p1ssed off that the umpires abrogate their responsibility to the players. One report, 50m penalty, or even a damn free kick would have nipped this in the bud.

Shame on you umpires. Should go to OPSM and tell them to shove it.

Bakes may be a dirty little bugger but he’s OUR dirty little bugger. As such, this sucks big time.

All clubs have them yet we’ve been chosen as the club to be involved in this monumental decision. Oh lucky us!

If the AFL doesn’t like the way Baker and his ilk go about their footy then fine. But do it between seasons and let the clubs and their players know the goal posts are being changed. If they had done that, and Bakes had still done what he did, no one would have any complaints.

I suppose Carlton can breathe a sigh of relief. It’s just lucky for them that the AFL didn’t decide a couple of weeks ago to make an example of blokes who cut other blokes faces open with their elbows, or Juddy may have got 20 weeks!

Of course I was being sarcastic with that last bit!!!

So that's that hey? What a joke this competition has become!!!

To the AFL, you are morons ruining the game, don't be surprised when the game no longer simply looks after itself as it does at the moment. Your administration is overpaid and under qualified and you are living off the peoples love of the game. It won't last forever.

To opposition coaches with an opinion, like Milkshake and Bomber, you cannot tell me you don't instruct your players to do the same every week. Mick you sent your side out with dirty tactics cos you knew there was no other way in Rd 3...you hypocrite! If there is any fairness left in the comp, your players will be next to go.

To Aker, you are finished you hack. You could have had a glorious end to your career but you have talked to much and played for a couple of years too long. Enjoy your retirement.

To the St Kilda admin, bloody awful handling of this whole saga. The fact Bakes will walk away with 9 is a disgrace. You NEVER support our players at the tribunal, and NEVER take on the AFL. How these little hits are classified as any form of impact, low or whatever, is a joke.

Very, very disappointed. When/if we win that flag, it will be hard to keep coming back and giving my hard earned to a bias and corrupt organisation.

You can say what you like but it stinks.

The support and information from the club to Bakes has been poor, They have nothing to lose now by making a legal challenge through the courts of Victoria. It is time that the club took a stand against the AFL and it's administration because if they don't we will continue being shafted for the next 100 years. No other club would stand for what has happened to our club and its players.

How is this the clubs fault. They appealed. To say you never support the players is a joke, remember the whole Farmer incident was under a different administration. Get of your high horses, it doesn't change anything. The fact is they have it in for Bakes and thats not St kildas fault.

As if they are going to take it to the courts, they didn't even challenge 3 of the 4 charges. What makes you think they would take it any further??

Weak effort all round.

Hope you had some lube when the AFL bent you over Saints.

waste of money going legal.

Our club is clueless when it comes to tribunal cases.

Harsh reality.

Do we jeopordise a great chance at a premiership for Bakes. I agree that this needs to go to court but can you imagine the retribution from the AFL. Even if we made it they would screw us over.

To those of you bagging the club, you need to calm down and stop acting so petulantly. As a general rule, nobody gets off at the tribunal. Even Sir Judd was unable to beat his gouging charge late last year. Many have tried and failed. Very, very few are successful. If they were that keen to make an example of Baker, there was not a great deal that we can do.

Now before we all go mouthing off about Supreme Court action, have a long hard think about it. If you don't think we suffer enough now, can you imagine how hard it will be made for us if we were to pursue this? We have bigger fish to fry. Bakes will be back for the finals. We will be able to cover him until then. We will then see all our boys holding the cup high in September. That will be the big 'up yours' to the footy public, the media and the AFL. Actions not words people, actions not words.

It is time to calm down, put this behind us and move forward.
