I read as far as "The Saints won because their small forwards crumbed a few opportunistic goals and every Geelong forward had a bad night" and stopped.
Any analysis piece drawing that long a bow isn't worth reading.

"... You want to pose a threat to the opposition in as many ways as you can, both defensively and offensively. We've got a responsibility to explore all those possibilities - and we will."

Ablett's two goals weren't opportunistic? His snap was flukier than the Schneidermans...
Every geelong had a bad night becasue our mids did better than broke even and our backmen are and were the cream of the crop.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

OK so I went back and read the rest of the article. It lived up to expectations.
I heard and read plenty on the weekend about Saints players' bad behaviour during the match and nothing at all about a 192cm 31yo so-called "fullback of the century" being outmarked in front of goal by a 180cm 20yo opponent, who he then proceeded to rough up while standing over him.

Funny article, he seemed far more complimentary in his commentary Friday night. Certainly, brushing us off with comments like "The Saints won because their small forwards crumbed a few opportunistic goals and every Geelong forward had a bad night" sounds a lot like an excuse he came up with afterwards...there was barely a word from the entire commentary team at the end of the third as they were all in shock.

For crying out loud we kept this great Geelong team goaless for the second half, scorless for the third term and kept them to their lowest score since 1956. Sure they had a bad night but it was maybe becasue of defensive srtucture is so superb. Credit where credit is due.
Note: we have kepth the rest of the top six to similar low scores so it ain't no fluke but I guess they just had bad nights too, hey Leigh.
