YOU belong- WE believe in you.
a quote from a former afl coach
and so true of any workplace- and more so for a sport when to quote a young footballer I was speaking to last night, it's "80%" above the shoulders.
the coach concerned was discussing a player who had moved through one club and was given another chance and with the" belief"of his experienced teammates- all legends of their team was able to kick 90 goals in a year.
it is so true of where the Saints and some of their players are right now- as they strive to get that extra % on field- it just may be the 'WE Believe" that get's them over that niggle, sore spot, or dropped mark... or the constant if's and maybes of the general AFL population ( let alone Saints supporters )
From ME-
YOU BELONG - WE BELIEVE IN YOU

There isn't a current Saints player going around that I don't genuinely believe in can get the job done come the finals.saintbrat wrote:a quote from a former afl coach

There's about 6 or so that I'm confident won't get the job done come finals.
The positive is, that there are about 8 that I'm confident will. And that's the important part.
It's the top 6 that are going to win it for us.

Our chance for success will come through Lyon getting the best out of everyone.
The Cat's have the better list....but we need to be the better team.
We need all 22 to win.
Yes our Top 6 will be our Top 6 and contribute more...but if it just becpmes a shoot-out of talent we are not going to win.
We need greater committment. Work-rate, team-play...and Lyon extracting the most out af all.
As Luke Darcy wrote today:
It is a huge credit to Ross Lyon and his coaching team that they are able to get players with severe limitations in their game to play the way they need them to. Zac Dawson, Andrew McQualter, James Gwilt, Jason Blake, Robert Eddy might struggle to get a game at other sides, but for the Saints they all get the job done
Faith in all, and committment from all is what we need.

1/ Yes were were woeful were we? Played arguably the best team in the history of the game and we barely lost.
Indepenent people state that last years GF was a crackerjack of a game. But you rave on like we had put upa a performance like PA did when they played the Cats in a GF.
2/
You bang on and on about us being too reliant on Roo.
But then you will prattle on about leave it all up to our Top 6.
So being over-reliant on yout Top 1 is bad...but being over-reliant on your Top 6 is meant to be good????
Others may see an inconsistency your line of reasoning.

Luckily the coaches know the only way to win a GF is with 22 contributing. If the top 6 play as expected and the botttom 6 do nothing we cannot win the GF. It is obvious even to you but you would never say you are wrong. I will, you are wrong.rodgerfox wrote:Wow.dcstkfc wrote:

Our bottom 6 were appalling in the GF last year - yet only poor kicking at goal cost a flag.plugger66 wrote:

The 'middle 6' are almost the most important thing in footy. I've said this before. I think I may have even opened a thread on it once.SainterK wrote:What about the middle 10, they don't really get enough of a mention...rodgerfox wrote:Our bottom 6 were appalling in the GF last year - yet only poor kicking at goal cost a flag.plugger66 wrote:

The 'bottom 6' are irrelevant though. You and I could be the bottom 6, and it wouldn't make any difference at all.
The overriding factor though, is the top 6.

Was Milne in the bottom 6 before the game. Was Rooy? Was Schneider. Now just admit you are wrong.

Most of the whole 'bottom 6' debate is definately based on hindsight.
Each supporter, and even coach will have differing views and reasons as to who and why a player will be in their 'bottom 6'.

Look it doesn't take Einstein to work out that if you rank your players from most important to least important that individually, or in groups of players, that you expect your better players to influence the game more.rodgerfox wrote:The 'middle 6' are almost the most important thing in footy. It takes RF though to claim that the Bottom 6 are irrelevant.
Unless RF knows that Sainter K is Gary Ablett, or similar, this would have to be the stupidiest idea I have ever read on a football forum ever.rodgerfox wrote: You and I could be the bottom 6, and it wouldn't make any difference at all.

1/ Bottom 6 are irreleavant...but you choose who the irrelevant ones are AFTER the game....
2/ Also now the Bottom 6 are all different based on many people views. So that must mean the Bottom 6 is actually about 10 players...all of whom must be irrelevant because in hindsght 6 of therm were irrelevant on a hindsight basis.

So lets follow the RF "logic"
Luke Ball is in hindsight after the H& A a Bottom 6 player = irrelevant.
After the PF...still a Bottom 6 player = irrelevant
But after the GF played a Top 6 Game = now relevant
So this keeps RF's theory that Bottom 6 players are irrelevant intact.
Stevie J was arguably the worst player on the ground = irrelevant.
Errr...I think the logic is flawed myself....

You sound like a raving derelict.
Once again SrR, you've come in all guns blazing and over-excited, without even understanding what the 'argument' actually is.
Get your facts straight, then feel free to come back and participate in what was, a reasonable discussion.
But please, at least take the time to get your facts straight. It makes you look really, really foolish. And very immature.
Re: YOU belong- WE believe in you.
I'm not saying that all of them are capable of being guns. But honestly I feel that Lyon with his tactical and man-management skills has the ability to turn every player on our list into a useful cog in the wheel of a premiership team.rodgerfox wrote:Wow.dcstkfc wrote:
