Did some really nice things today. His endeavor and commitment can not be

questioned. His only problem, at the moment, is that his body isn't able to do

what his mind wants. A couple more pre-seasons and we might be seeing one

of the great forwards of the modern era. I'm calling it now! :D

He's taking the pressure of Kosi, I'd like to see him exploit his speed more. Perhaps instead of kicking directly to him, kick over his head and let him try and burn off his opponent running into goal.

Better still don't kick it to him.
Use him as a decoy.
That way the ball wont be turned over, making it harder for the opposition to get possessions.

Obviously missed those marks in the 2nd half Ace? His pressure in the 3rd quarter directly resulted in a goal. Silvagni thrashed him? Pffft. Silvagni was a liabilty down back. My wife who tipped the Dockers hence was barracking for them, was screaming at the TV 'Don't give it to Silvagni.' Stanley needs to be more aggressive which I thought he was in the 2nd half, but he is invaluable to our structure whilst Roo is missing.

He needs to lead and present at every opportunity.

Until he bulks up a bit pace and height is his only real strength ... and he has to play to it.

he is very promising but goes missing for large chunks.

Stanley's greatest value is the structure he provides. At the moment he can't compete one-on-one, but he demands a tall defender, makes an option and applies pressure.

That said, it would be nice if someone kicked it to him well for a change; he's been on the end of some very ordinary delivery.

i get you. the same structure argument is often used for kosi. He's filling the same space that riewoldt usually has and is attempting to play that role.

he'll be a very good player down the track, as will tommy walsh (whose body is better developed at this stage, but is still learning the game).

Just doesn't have the body yet...

Will be a player in a couple of years though.

These are valuable games he is getting atm.

We are used to playing with two Talls. And we have continued to do so in Roo's absence. In the first few games Ross used rotating defenders. THe last few games he hasn't and has blooded Stanley.

Pro's

Chips/Raph/Gwilt/Blake/Gilbert stick to playing behind the ball where they are better suited.

Stanley gets a taster

Structure remains intact

Con's

Not many.... not offering much as an indiviudal therefore is denying others a go - Heyne (didn't show a lot either in his chances), Lynch (?unfit), Walsh (not ready)

Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

Except take a dive worthy of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Seriously I reckon Stanley has great potential and as a young guy he is at the least providing an option and a contest.

Clarke was injured you twat! Did you watch the fricken game? He spent the whole second half on the bench in a bloody tracksuit! Pretty hard to contribute from there! Get off his back!
Stanley and McEvoy took some important grabs in the last qtr, when it was getting close, & had shots at goal that ate up valuable seconds!
I think you're too harsh on all three players.

Maybe you should read the post you are quoting before taking aim at the poster.
