Goose, X, and Bally all injured great foresight Ross. (Not that I wish it upon them).

I'm thinking the op is suggesting it was the right move to move them on.

And it was.

yep and with all due respect I bet our fitness gurus would be merely having a quiet professional wink, wink, nudge, nudge between themselves too, as they would have had considerable input at the end of last season no doubt!!

coupled with the Lovett saga washup today guess one would have to conclude
You win a few and lose the odd one !

Unfortunately through the early 2000's, we carried WAY to many players with injuries that just never seemed to be able to be fixed. Goose, Bal (the groin injury has always been simmering under the surface even after surgery), Hamill and X Clarke just to name a few. Under Ross, they are given a certain amount of time to get right and once that time frame is up, they are moved on.

As heartbreaking as it can be (Hamill retiring nearly killed me), it has to be done. We can not afford to carry dead wood. We need consistency and reliability from players, not players missing large chunks of game time due to existing injuries that are just not fixable!

Reduced contracts that were probably more in line with how many games they would play.

So is Ross Lyon the List Manager now???

That's odd.

Has anyone told Matthew Drain this?

At the end of the day it doesnt really matter who we attribute it to. There would have been many people involved in some way or another (including RL) and - dare I say it - they got it spot on.

They wanted to keep all 3. They tried to keep all 3.

True.

But on our terms not theirs, hence the reason why they are all wearing other teams colours in the grandstands not ours.

I do have to add though that I love all three players and wish them all the best, I have really enjoyed Matt Maguire's form this year.

Sympathies go out to Goose - He has contracted Staph - a strain of which kept Luenberger out for 21 weeks last year. Something is bad in the water in Queensland

We had to carry Hamill because of the contract. However, one would have to wonder if things could have been different if he had of been rested instead of playing injured as was GT policy.

Me too  It was with a heavy heart that I had to trade him from my supercoach team, but it had to be done.
I have been following him with interest this season. Such a shame that his injury has flared up and now contracting Staph on top of that. He can't seem to take a trick. They just said on the 5th Quarter that the infection was at the lower end of the scale at least. I hope he come back to be able to play towards the end of the season
