St Kilda Football Club is thrilled to announce a new membership record as the Club, for the first time in their 137 year history, breaks the magical 40,000 mark.
When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

21,500 dogs, 8,000 cats and 3,200 gold fish
"Another storied win in Robert Harvey's career. They say he is the embodiment of their motto of strength through loyalty, and on the day he became just the tenth man to play 350 league games the saints reward him with a seemingly impossible victory."
They should only publish 11 or 16 game members.
The reported number is highly misleading and all clubs rort it.
They count 3 game and other dodgy packages.
Collingwood were caught counting sponsor give-away tickets.
Hawthorn do a head-count on their 3 game Tasmanian "members" etc.
Publish the REAL numbers.

It's a load of sh!t. If you're not a full member, then it shouldn't get counted in the tally
too true - but nowadays its all about the appearance, not the reality.
a whole generation are being raised on this rationale, another is being converted, the rest ignored and left to argue the point outside mainstream media.

It's a great achievement for the club.
what would be the PR value of 100,000 members?
if it's in our marketing budget let's give away 60,000 1 game memberships!
that'd be a great achievement

Saints may already have 100000 members , if multiple personalities count ! I myself am a mild mannered law abiding citizen , yet when at the football turn into a compete arsehole, sometimes cussing , sometimes feeling the love , sometimes comatose !
I'm sure quiet a few others are like this , listening to crowd comments around me..

Nah this has been going on since Gough Whitlam's days in government when unemployement figures included days of 2 or 4 hours per day justt like now. Previously only full days work mattered.
Life has changed and wont go back. The rorts on membership numbers are no different.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Good idea Let the Saints only count FULL memberships - and the others can keep on including what the AFL allow in the count. That should look pretty impressive when the final figures are released
I know people who are members of other clubs but buy Hawthorn's 4 game memberships to get to a seat at games down here. Easy money for the Hawks as well as the State Government's money.
Geez I'm glad Grant didn't like playing games down here.
St Kilda's 2 premiership captains are Tassie born. The Doc & Roo.

Agree. 50,000 members at Hawthorn yet 21,000 people at the G today. Well done, Hawthorn members. Maybe it was too cold for people to bring their dogs or members of the Victorian Liberal Party, Jeff.
It ceases to amaze me why we have so many posters on this site who call themselves loyal supporters (they are proberbly not members anyway as they would be too miserable and mean to contribute financially to the Club) who will always find a negative answer to everything StKFC.
To gain this membership result, I think the Club is to be congratulated.
For 40,000 plus true supporters to subscribe at least $75.00 each to the coffers of the Club to become Members, be it a 3 game Member or full Social Cub Member, is an enormous feat, an increaqse of more than 23% on last year.
Well done to those inside and outside the Club for their efforts, a remarkable result. Maybe we will in future recieve greater recognition from the AFL and the Media.
Now for a Flag.
