It will not matter which gate you enter except that randomly some staff will always be more diligent/officious than others on any day.

I posted pre-season a Warning that they were tightening up on Concession Tickets at Docklands this year.

ie They have installed new equipment, and extra video screens this season as well, at all entries that display the type of Ticket used.

This is new as in previous years the scanner could not discern (or at least not visiably display) Full Tickets from Concession Tickets. A different coloured light now flashes on the scanner, and if you look up there are VDU's monted so that supervisors can easily see waht each ticket is scanned at.

I have also noticed this year that for most games that there are more staff at each gate than in previous years. I presume to check tickets.

Not that I am a supporter of Collo, but it has been a well known rort at Docklands for years that Adults have been buying Concession tickets for cheap entry.

Just like travel on the train many concession tickets require proof of the concession.

In previous years they rarely checked. I have only ever had one daughter asked once and hat was last year when she when she was 18 arrived indepently. She had no ID, but after discussion and that she had SC Concession they eventially let her pass.

This year they are checking, and enforcing.

Yes they have been told to do so, and yes Docklands are cracking down this year.

It has always beena condition of entry, and while occassionally enforced or checked in previous years it was rarely done so.

As the cards do not have a Members Pic they are easily used by another.

Going by the opposition supporters that regularly sit in the SC area this practice is common (note that with the SC overflowing that Guest Passes are no longer obtainable).

Semi-related, but a somewhat weird story out of the Social Club on Sat night..concerning a particular barman..

Went in for a meal pre-game, wandered up to the bar and placed my order for 2 beers, Gin & Tonic and a Diet Coke. The beers and Coke arrived and I looked at the barman for the G&T. He looked at the Diet Coke and said "umm yep its there". It was then I noticed said Coke was a slightly strange colour...and as he said "oh you want them separately?"..it twigged...

He'd mixed the G&T and Diet Coke in the same glass!!

Now has some new drink sensation passed me by, or am I right in thinking that 1000 other bar staff anywhere else would look at me verrry strangely if I DID ask for them to be mixed together?

What made it funnier was the badge he wore on his nice white shirt...

"Manager" 8-)

My sister got really pissed off when Falls Creek Ski Lifts insisted on seeing her son's studemt ID and would issue him with student lift pass.

A few rotten eggs try to cheat the system so a gross over reqaction takes place with management insisting that everyone no matter how obviously qualified show ID.
It makes sense that if you are taking advantage of any concession anywhere to have your ID with you or you will end up inconvienced one day.

If you are like me you never receive any concessions, never receive any social welfare benefits for anything then you don't have to worry.
Seems it is OK to pay full price all the time.

Got into 3 games so far with Junior under 6 tickets :D

Also thought this was a warning about TD cracking down on goon bags.

Yep, that's the issue.

You can pay 30 or 40 bucks, by an infant membership, and get into all Vic games Home and Away,

It's the club you're cheating out of money if you buy or use a concession m/ship that you're not entitled to use.

As a little test, and to keep me amused, I always go in on my sons ticket and give him mine.
Been doing it for about 6 years.
Never been pulled up once.

So my conclusion is they don't give a damn.

Then there is the pointless bag search.
I open the main zip, they casually look in, ask something about glasses, I say no, and they say OK.
I could have 10kg of explosives and they would never detect it.
Just an incredible waste of resources.

Disagree. I've been pulled up before, and more and more of my mates have been as well. Like anything, the more you try it on, the closer you come to being caught (not that you are doing anything dishonest, as your son has your membership and it can be sorted out in 2 seconds flat)

However I don't reckon the AFL would waste their resources putting in the technology if they weren't prepared to start enforcing it. I reckon each year from now on they will be more and more vigilant.

I'm not a member. So technically cheating out Ian Collins :D

Was a paid up SC and RS last year. But my dad f***ed up and we lost it all this year. Since I'm a poor uni student I really can't afford to shelve out for an 11 game membership. Plan on doing so as soon as I have a...dependable income.

Actually you are cheating the club. If it's our home game that is, I believe we get a % of the gate takings as does Collo and his mob.

I'll be honest and admit that when my kids haven't gone to the games, I've reserved seats in the AFL members area with my kids tix b/c you pay half the price. That money however goes to ticketmaster rather than the AFL or the saints, which sh%ts me to tears. If I get caught though I wouldn't have anyone to blame but myself. Won't risk it anymore with the new technology.

It stands to reason that if an adult walks in with a childs ticket and then the next person to come through is a child with an adults ticket then they would hardly pull you up.

Anyway as Mick13 has demonstrated people do try and rip off the system (and our football club).

It's not for any of us on here to tell people to do the right thing, just don't whinge about it if you are caught.
