franklin better get weeks or we are entitled to answers
nearly identical to the bump that kosi copped three weeks for in round 1.
like kosi, buddy has form, too.
any experts on how the points system works like to predict an outcome?

Buddy was clumsy and not clever, but it was a free kick at best.
Kosi deserved some time, it was a far worse hit

Perhaps a bit of bias has entered the fray here.
Kosi's bump was forcefull, Buddy should get off in my opinion. Although he probably should have tackled he did everything right in the circumstances to execute a bump imo.
Also note, Grundy got up straight away to take the kick. Malceski was dazed for a quarter...

no i'm not kidding. it was a bump to the head, an area the afl has deemed sacrosanct.terry smith rules wrote:you are kidding aren't you!!bigcarl wrote:nearly identical to the bump that kosi copped three weeks for in round 1.

in kosi's case you could plead clumsiness, but buddy isn't clumsy.
i hope he gets weeks. i'm not big on special rules for special players. everyone should be equal before the law.

+1...the head is meant to be sacrosanct...Hawks supporters I have been chatting to today expect him to go.bigcarl wrote:no i'm not kidding. it was a bump to the head, an area the afl has deemed sacrosanct.terry smith rules wrote:you are kidding aren't you!!bigcarl wrote:nearly identical to the bump that kosi copped three weeks for in round 1.

Didnt see the incident but you would think Buddy might be in some trouble due to the fact his name has been on the naughty list already this season, but as a few have mentioned on here its hard to guess the outcome as some times it really doesn seem like a lottery.

i agree to a point. but if they're going to ping one of our guys for it, we are entitled to consistency.Schillaci wrote:I've seen the incident and all I can say is the game has gone soft. May as well be called Aussie Touch and get rid of the tackle while we're at it.
a week is a soft, imo.
special rules for special players.
it was almost identical to the kosi incident. he got down low to make sure he connected with the guy's head.
kosi could plead clumsiness, but buddy isn't clumsy.

Surely you're kidding? Franklin's bump was nothing like Kosi's. Kosi had huge force behind his hit, while Franklin's bump was very soft.bigcarl wrote:i agree to a point. but if they're going to ping one of our guys for it, we are entitled to consistency.Schillaci wrote:I've seen the incident and all I can say is the game has gone soft. And Franklin has been reported for the third time this year, you can't be serious in thinking he gets "special treatment".
Just take your rose-coloured glasses off for one time.
And the rules are; if you are in a postion not to bump and you decide to bump and get the head you are GONE!
Buddy has form, he deserved his week. I still don't think Kozi deserved his 3 at the start of the year (side note: he played well round 1, those 3 weeks really stuffed up his year thus far didn't it?!).
I keep remembering Zac getting done last year for bumping that bloke on the mark, if you look at that, maybe Buddy deserved 3 or 4! Its definitely a grey area this year, some blokes not even sighted, some get a few weeks - then again, whats new there!

even more reason to throw the book at him. then he might think twice about again going for the head ... which, the afl has made pretty clear, is a no go zone.Saintersss wrote:Franklin has been reported for the third time this year
instead he has been flogged with a feather and a soft one week penalty.
he must be thick to keep making the same stupid mistake. the elbow came up and the intent wasn't good.
they like to keep their superstars on the field, i guess. i repeat, special treatment for special players.

The AFL can't just give extra weeks cause they feel like it, they have set guidelines which they obey.bigcarl wrote:even more reason to throw the book at him. then he might think twice about again going for the head ... which, the afl has made pretty clear, is a no go zone.Saintersss wrote:Franklin has been reported for the third time this year

Buddy does not get special treatment.

much of it comes down to how they decide to see the incident. this is where the inconsistencies come in. there are value judgements involved.Saintersss wrote:The AFL can't just give extra weeks cause they feel like it, they have set guidelines which they obey.bigcarl wrote:even more reason to throw the book at him. then he might think twice about again going for the head ... which, the afl has made pretty clear, is a no go zone.Saintersss wrote:Franklin has been reported for the third time this year

Buddy does not get special treatment.
ie. kosi's was a malicious attempt to take a player's head off, while buddy's was mere accidental clumsiness that unfortunately collected a player flush on the head.
make no mistake, the afl would want buddy out there as often as possible. it is naive to think otherwise. it is kid gloves where he is concerned.
