Dal, Joey, Lenny and BJ
Are undersold.
They are every bit as good as Ablett, Bartel, Corey and Selwood.
We need to appreciate how freakishly good our current midfield is.

Agreed. They are holding this team together at the moment. Are all playing consistently well every week, and giving our fwds enough chances to convert. The crows seemed like all they to do was kick it in high at one stage of the game and their fwds would mark it close to goal. WE are working our backsides off.

Dangerfield or Tippett or whatever his name his, marked absolutely everything that came his way. Really strong mark, whoever it was...

Gram, Ray, Jones, Peake are the tier above Eddy and Geary IMO.n1ck wrote:The thing with Geelongs midfield is although our top 4 match up with their top 4, they have guys like Enright, Wojak, Varcoe, Byrnes who can swing through there to support them.
We have Eddy and Geary - not quite up to the same level.

With Gram out, I didnt count him. I didnt could Jones because as a premium tagger, I left him out and Ling out for the other mob. True Peake and Ray are up there but I didnt like either of them tonight. Ray did end up jagging a goal in the end, but made too many critical errors earlier on, and Peake is so one sided, got caught so many times with poor disposal when in possession on the left side wing.
I left them out due to pure frustration. Probably should have left out Geary too as he didnt play tonight.. but, oh well.

Fair enough, I know what you are saying though. It would be good if our bottom few players could lift their games a notch.

Yeah, on a positive note though (on our bottom few players) - how much has Jimmy Gwilt lifted?! Has been fantastic all season so far. He and Blake have really held our defense together through some really tough and trying times.battye wrote:Fair enough, I know what you are saying though. I was thinking tonight, last year when we played down at tassie we dropped 7 players and still smashed hawthorn, that intensity, that total pressure around the ground, that mentality of everyone doing their job, its just not there this year, i get it we are learning to play without roo and the last two weeks it has clicked but against who? two avg sides that wont be playing finals...
it kills me but we just are not up to geelong this year with or without roo...
i hope i am wrong...
geelong would have beaten us by 10 goals tonight....

I think you'll find if you look at the fixture carefully it's actually a 12 day breakThe OtherThommo wrote:The pity is when we play Geelong in a few weeks we'll be off a 5 day break returning from Perth. I'm not sure we'll learn much.
Don't worry, you're the second poster to make that mistake this week.

Our guys don't quite deliver the same output as Geelong because they are always playing to a losing ruck.
29 v 45 against Adelaide
McEvoy only getting 6
Gardiner got similar numbers to each of Maric and Griffin but even Tippett did better in the ruck than McEvoy.
Our midfielders looked so good when Gardiner won centre hitouts but he was swamped by Adelaide's 3.

I am a little concerned that Lenny is doing so much in and under, can he keep this up all year, I would love to have another in our side half as good as what he is, he leeds by example time and time agian and leaves no stone unturned but will it take its toll?
Our Mids are getting better each game now without Rooey, goals from our Mids is so refreshing and makes us very dangerous
I am loving our Midfield when the switch gets turned on during a game and we destroy the opposition in such a short time and in such a brutal manner
Cant wait to play the cats TBO
