McEvoy now looking like a future gun

Post: # 933518Post Legendary »

Thought McEvoy backed up his career best performance last week with an even better game this week.

Ran hard all night, found the footy, took some strong contested grabs, crashed packs up forward, won clearances in the ruck and used it well.

He's really developing as a footballer, and IMO in 2-3 years time will be fairly close to Kreuzer as the best ruckmen from that draft.

Might never be the dominant hitout player, but he's fantastic around the ground.

In front, yes I agree...very frustrating as he seem to have good hands around the ground. Give it time I guess, he spends more time in the ruck than up forward. Very encouraging signs the last couple of weeks.

Agree too! I guess the point is I missed is that it's hard to make 'em stick when you're slamming into a pack at full speed. Good presence up forward.

More and more looks likes he is a smart footballer - reads the play and positions himself better every week.

As long as stays fit we must keep playing him this year into finals later on. Vs last year in finals he will offer us more than Kingy did...

He is a definite ruckman...

Some tapwork tonight with Gardy to our mids was super clean.

Does anyone think they will rest MG in the next few weeks when King is ready to go as it looks like Ben will play for a while yet?

Who gave up on him becoming anything already?

He's just a baby in footy terms, who will benefit from a few games in succession.

i think kingy might have played his last game for us. he's ruck coach now isn't he?

If MG needs a rest, Kosi might take his spot once he regains a bit of form.

p66, i'd rather we play gardi ruck then rotate through FF than rest him at this stage.

His form is solid and we are going to need him against Freo and Geelong after next week.

That being said we could rest him next week but going into Freo and Geelong we need to smash the Tigers to start to hit better form.

I'd now be surprised if he got dropped again this season. Would also be surprised if King came back to replace him.

McEvoy was good in picking up ground balls and dishing off to team mates. Maybe he's finally coming. Lets all hope he can accelerate his progress.

Another opportunity awaits!

6 hitouts for a ruckman is clearly only a water pistol.

He needs to average at least 20 hitouts a match to become a hand gun in a ladies handbag.
