looks to me like there are about 7 players carrying the entire side, with another 5 having got a small number of votes in one or two games.

(incidentally, 2 of those 12 are currently out with injuries.)

the other 18 who've run out on the pitch this year haven't managed to get a vote. not exactly balanced team performances.

i'd like to see vote-winning performances from a few others. gardiner, for instance, is noticeably absent from that list. kosi also. ray, armo, peake, gwilt, mcqualter and mcevoy could be expected to pick up a couple of votes at some point.

Two players earned the maximum 10 votes from the weekend's action - Leigh Montagna for his 33-possession performance in St Kilda's win over the Brisbane Lions and Brad Green for his 27-touch, five-goal effort in the Demons' win over Essendon.

Montagna's performance moved him into equal fourth on the leaderboard with Freo skipper Matthew Pavlich, who didn't score a vote at the weekend.

In-form Saint Brendon Goddard, who did not play at the weekend, dropped out of the top 10 as did Cat maestro Gary Ablett, who did not earn a vote from either coach despite being the leading possession winner on the ground with 32
