We have not had a lead up fwd of any note, and or a second Key fwd behind Nick R. Jack is a Goalkicker, and a very good contested mark and I think he will end up being a very good FF....perhaps in the Bradshaw mould....He kicked a couple of Bags in the VFL in 2006 playing for Tas as a 17yo, and had a good U18 champs (has X-Factor)...would he have been nice in 2009/2010????
Armitage - as nice as he looks as a player....for some reason cannot seem to get there...most likely pace...which cannot be improved

Jack looks like quite a player and has done very well to keep his cool and wits about him playing in such a terrible team currently. Despite showing frustration on occasion it really has shown he is a potential leader of the Tigers with the way he has continued and improved his football.
He looks the goods. However he cannot play as a power forward all on his own. They need to get another taller, bigger option to complement Jack.

I really am getting under your skin Maverick.....don't respond if you feel it a waste of time or beneath you...
My point is no different to the Ball v Judd debate, Tambling v Franklin and so on.....
Just interesting that after Jack kicks 6...Armo is not even in the side... and mids are supposed to mature quicker....
and his name is RIEWOLDT!!!
Good point is that Jack might not have got a game until he had 4 seasons with Sandy

A few clubs over rated Queenslanders in the 2006 draft.
None more so than St Kilda.
Those clubs that stayed away from Queensland that year e.g. Geelong faired a lot better.

We have Nick who plays for St.Kilda
He is our captain
Jack is Nicks cousin
i am sure that Nick could be In Jacks ear.
I am sure Jack knows he will be at Richmond a long time before they are a chance to win a flag
Will he want to play with his cousin and not be the number 1 forward?
Get him to Stkilda Nick
I actually think Jacks body language is very negative and is probably frustrated at not winning games (as he should)

It is very different to Ball v Judd as Judd won a Brownlow and Norm Smith, whereas Jack R has been decidely average until he kicks 6 goals in a game that was as open and pressureless as I have seen for many a while...

Given your self promoted expertise in so many football areas would you mind revealing to those of us who aren't aware of them, your qualifications?BigMart wrote:Has 25 this season, and 4 tackles a game - was that not my point....
We could have done with a third tall in 2009...so Sean Dempster wasn't in that role in the GF....wasted exercise
You know:-
How many games of AFL/VFL/VFA/WAFL/SANFL/TFL/VAFA/EDFL/SFL you've coached?
or
How many games of AFL/VFL/VFA/WAFL/SANFL/TFL/VAFA/EDFL/SFL you've played?
or
How many years you've been a talent spotter at AFL/VFL/VFA/WAFL/SANFL/TFL/VAFA/EDFL/SFL/Any league?
So that I can assess what weight to put on your statements?
You make some pretty bold statements and I'm curious what experience you have to make them?
Personally I don't have any of the qualifications listed above so I would find it difficult to pronounce my opinion is better than those paid to give theirs at St Kilda in these areas over the past 10 years or so.

Is this analysis comparing a hypothetical Armitage in Richmond's team since both were drafted?
Right not would he also be a fringe player at the tigers? Or a lock within their midfield?
If its an analysis of two different player types, in two different teams with two different levels of competitiveness over that period - Then Jack is clearly in front.
Pretty clear given he at least played seniors this week.....

Pity that Allen had freak accident with his hip otherwise it may have been a Jack vs Allen comparison thread.

What has qualifications on where I played or coached have anything to do with giving an opinion on a Forum - you said it yourself, you have none....yet you come on here and comment on my opinions...which in essence means you rate your opinions higher than mine...
BTW - I have played the game, those who play SS forum matches could probably back me on this - although I am long in the tooth (approaching 40), I still run a 13-8 in the beep test, and am still pretty quick, and can take a grab....and keep myself in good condition, probably due to being a PE teacher, who specialises in Cricket and Footy (Cricket #1 sport)
For your benefit..
Of the leagues you listed I have played the following - mainly due to moving around Australia a lot.
NTFL (tas) U19's/Senios
SFL (Sydney) (U20's/Senior)
WA Amatuers (A-Grade)
EFL (Vic - known as EDFL then)
SFL (Vic)
VAFA (A-Grade)
SFL (Vic)
Masters (Vic)
Not great - something though..
But unfortunately have had the following injuries
Broken Back and Ruptured Disc 91
Broken Wrist (Scaffoid) 94
Ruptured ACL/ML 2000
Broken Ankle
So I could play a bit....Coaching???
I left that to to school teams I coach...because I have Coached Cricket Clubs for the last 12 years and a lot of my energy goes into that (I prefer Cricket and am better at it)...I am Level 2 in both though
So since you wanted my qualifications to give an opinion, there you go.....is that up to your standards..I really hope so..
I didn't actually know that we had to be an EXPERT to give a comment/opinion....
what exactly qualifies you to bring me down???

As you are contented with our drafting over the last 5/6 years...which players will be the ones to take us forward over the next 10 years and who will be the a graders?saintsRrising wrote:I think you are taking the p*** if you want to compare us to the Tigers recruiting.BigMart wrote:#13 2006 National Draft (Armitage #9)

As the playing lists are over 40, probabilities tell me that you would need to average 4 ten year players a year through draft/trade...then each side needs a handfull of A graders
I hope we do not retrict ourselves to bear an everage list

I didn't realize it would require a week for you to respond?
I was merely interested to know what qualifications you had to back up your assertions that you knew better than everybody else.
When some think so much of their own opinion that they deem it necessary to lecture others, I felt it might be of interest to see if they truly were qualified or just legends in their own mind?
IMO, you certainly seem to fit the latter category.
As has been stated often, everybody who posts on here is entitled to voice to an opinion. Unfortuntately some like you seem to have the habit of posting their opinion as a statement of fact.
My issue with you is not your opinion - just with your continual posting of those opinions as a fact.
I have an opinion of you as being a smart ar$e wannabe, but I don't know it to be a fact.
And unlike you, would never, ever post it as a fact - just purely as my opinion.
And I do realize that my opinion is of no validity to you, as it differs from your own mypoic view of things, so I'm actually surprized that you would waste your time during the past week composing a response to my query.S
urely you would have been busy composing more posts on the wisdom of BigMart?
Maybe even,
'The Commandments of BigMart
1. I am the one.
2. If I don't agree it's wrong.
3. Everybody must agree with my pronouncements.
4. I know better than everyone at St Kilda
5. If I state it, it is a fact.'
