Essendon's CLASH STRIP !!

Post: # 924046Post Eastern »

Does anyone know if they are going to wear their "CLASH STRIP" today? The one with the wider RED sash on their BLACK jumper with WHITE shorts, meaning that they have almost equal ammounts of RED, WHITE & BLACK !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Essendon have always said they will never wear a proper clash strip and the AFL just let them get away with that disgraceful excuse for a clash jumper, even though EVERY SINGLE other club must have one jumper mostly light or dark depending on their colours.

If the league had any balls they would fine Essendon $25,000 every time they clash and dont wear a proper clash strip and if that doesnt work they should dock them points.

Its an absolute disgrace

What the christ is the point in a clash strip if the other team have to wear a clash strip to avoid a clash?! It doesn't make sense!

The AFL - The biggest sporting code in this nation - Allows two teams to wear their clash strip.

This is so idiotic that it makes me sick.

Im so sick of the stupidity in this world - Simple things like these make we wonder how things of any importance get done right.

Just maybe we agreed. I for one couldnt care if they ran around in pink if we win. Just a few more important things going on at the moment than clash strips.

Totally agree, if it's good enough for teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys etc to have clash strips, then it's bloody good enough for these two prima donna teams to have one.
Maybe someone should remind Essendon and Filth that outside this country, nobody even knows they exist.

We should not let Westaway & Nettlefold off the hook here. If our administration had the gourlies to stand up to the AFL and the Bully-Boy clubs we might just have a chance of changing this

I urge ALL saints fans to let our admin and the AFL know that this is NOT ACCEPTABLE;

saints.com.au and go to Michaels Mailbox

Yeah, but I don't profess to know more about the game than our coaches. I do know that this clash strip thing really gets up my nose !!

Essendon have a home strip and an away strip.

They do not have a clash strip because the AFL does not require them to have one.
Yet the AFL require St Kilda to drop its' home strip for a home game and wear a clash strip

BECAUSE

AFL HQ IS CORRUPT

Eastern, I won't be e-mailing the club, because as much as I hate that we had to wear our clash strip when Essendon should have, I still think it was the wise thing to do.
How much worse could the scoreline have been if we diddn't actually know who we were kicking to?
No point making the game harder for the boys just to stand on principle. In a close game the result could be decided by a poorly directed kick due to confusion over colours.
I think e-mails would be better directed to the AFL who need to find the balls to stand up to a couple of arrogant clubs and make them toe the line.
Make it an absolute rule that every team must have a suitable AFL approved clash jumper and must wear it if they are the away team when there is a clash. How hard can that be?
And if a club rocks up without this approved strip, the AFL should provide some pretty pink ones for them to wear on the day instead.

I'm predicting the AFL's answer to this;

THEY WON'T SCHEDULE St KILDA V ESSENDON IN 2011 !!

It's about time that West Away came back and did something !

It is OUR home game.
We have a RIGHT to wear OUR Home jumper.
It is then up to the AFL to enforce the clash jumper rule.

But what happened?
Essendon refuse to have a genuine clash jumper.
They have it in their constitution that they will not change from the red sash (their nickname a century ago used to be "The bloodstained N@ggers").
So the AFL pander to them, let them wear a slightly altered jumper.
And then insist we wear a clash jumper.

WELL THAT's NOT GOOD ENOUGH
WHERE ARE YOU WESTAWAY ?????

I'll tell you where he is.
He is running scared that what happened to North will happen to us.
North's jumper obviously clashes violently with Collingwood's.
But Collingwood refuse to have a clash strip.
So the AFL capitulates to Maguire and orders North to wear a clash jumper for their home games against Collingwood.
Eventually North announce they are no longer prepared to do this.

The result?
Check the fixture.
The AFL will never ever ever ever schedule another North home game against Collingwood.
That obviously impacts on North's gate receipts.

What about us?
Westaway is scared that the same would happen to us as a StKvEss home game always gets a good crowd.

So instead of standing up for ourselves,
we cave in like lambs
drop our daks
and bend right over.

So before the siren is even blown we have already surrendered.

Our Administration are Cowards.

Agreed.

I agree that all clubs must have a suitable clash jumper, which admittedly Essendon DON'T have.

However the home team should always have the right to waive their right of a home jumper if a suitable arrangement is made.
