Very happy with the team, looking forward to Sunday. I know the sentiment seems to be with Stanley for some reason but apart from winning the GF sprint, he hasn't done a lot to date. He did alright in the pre-season but nothing to write home about yet. Definitely did enough to get me excited about his future but I'm happy for him to develop a bit before throwing him into the deep end.

Not sure where the obsession with speed has come from all of the sudden...there were many other more relevant reasons as to why we lost last week, and speed has not been a factor against us otherwise this year. I put it down to the 'kick it down the guts' crowd.

Not sure that Heyne is a lumbering giant? Thought he was a medium sized flanker? Am I wrong or was this poster just ignorant?

Maybe this year?

He's not. Heyne isn't that tall and he's surprisingly quick for a guy of his shape. I think the two knocks on him have been his fitness and his kicking. He's got a weird kicking action and, while he does get a bit of distance into his kicks, does tend to spray them. He's a strong mark for a a guy of his size, which is probably one of the factors in his selection.

I haven't had a chance to see much of him this year, so I'm not sure what his form is like. I thought he looked a fair way off in preseason. I thought we'd probably see Smith or Stanley first.

I really would have liked to have seen Stanley in, but I trust the coaches know what they're doing. If Ross wants to see more out of Stanley at the VFL level before he gets a game, then hopefully he has a big game soon. I haven't been enjoying Kosi as our only tall forward option.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Heyne has been often playing in the midfield this year and so his fitness must have improved.

as long as Heyne can bring the run/defensive pressure we need when the ball hist the deck and Kosi is basically finished.

Stanley I was more confident could bring that urgency with his pace and the ball on the deck we sorely need......hope Heyne goes well.

Incidently, has Ben McEvoy played in a losing St.Kilda side yet?
No, he's 14-0!
Unless you count the NAB cup GF.

McEvoy and Heyne are the only two I've seen at Sandy that deserve promotion.

We may have seen King's last game and I think Nick Heyne has a great future.

I cant see how dropping Clrake and Steven is helping our lack of pace.

Pace I find is often more indicative of ball movement than leg speed.

Good to see new blood in the lineup. I expect someone in the backline had to get the chop after the Cartlon game which was really poor. Raph has a lot of skill, but in our game style, you can't afford to cough the ball up and must play with maximum intensity.

agreed, better looking midfield, hopefully the backline is left to do it's job and the forward line with the rotating rucks look alot better
