Clarke's issue is his release when he kicks.
Too slow.
It's like basketballers taking too long to release their shots - they're easy to block.
The good 3-point shooters have a quick release.
If you're going to be a running back in the AFL you need to have very quick release by foot. Raph is very slow in this regard. He telegraphs it and his ball drop is very high.
It actually makes him look slow overall which he isn't.
