Had a breakout game in the finals against Hawthorn a few seasons back, great kicking skills, can read the play very well and has good hands. Excellent judgement and decision making.
Would be like having another Goddard (without the fire and brimstone passion).
Nobody has ever doubted the kid's talent, just his durability.

YET.....it will come though, I am sure!n1ck wrote: Would be like having another Goddard (without the fire and brimstone passion).
That is the only challenge, keeping him on the park. North did not want Smith to leave, it was his choice to do so. He wanted a fresh start and wasn't impressed with the medical treatment at North. He will really put our fitness staff to the test.n1ck wrote:Nobody has ever doubted the kid's talent, just his durability.
This could be the fairytale come true of 2010 for the Saints if he can stay uninjured and make his way into the team before the finals.

Yeah has great foot skills.
Like...rare foot skills. No where near the depth that Goddard has, but his is absolutely spot on over say 30m.
And has great judgement and can get his own football.
Would be, a massive bonus if he got to play senior football.
His body has let him down hugely.
North supporters were shattered to see him go.

Jesse Smith is in the top 5 most talented players on our list IMHO... question is whether or not his body will hold up.
He is a cross between Hurn and Goddard.
His final against the hawks a few years back was just an example of what he's capable of...

Talk about overstating the case. The top 4 most talented players on our list IMO are Riewoldt, Goddard, Dal and Lenny Hayes. So that puts Jesse Smith ahead of Montagna, Sam Fisher, Gilbert, Milne, Schneider, etc.Armoooo wrote:Jesse Smith is in the top 5 most talented players on our list IMHO... question is whether or not his body will hold up.

As they say in the San Fernando Valley
I DON'T THINK SO

As far as talent goes, I don't think he is far off the mark. Actual output is a different story.meher baba wrote:Talk about overstating the case. Jesse has not played that much senior football...and one blinder in a final is not a big basis to go on.
Yes his reports as a junior were very good....but he has to do a lot yet in the seniors before we start putting him in our top 5.
Unti then he is just with the "poential's....like Stanley, Walsh etc....though yes if fit he is already well past these two.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

He said top 5 "most talented", not how much of it he'd put to use. You don't need runs on the board to be more "talented" than someone else in the team. Talent/ability is something you have, like what you're born with. He obviously has it, he just needs to get out on the park and use it.
YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.
