What is his problem with St Kilda ?
Think you'll find the great man has very fond memories of Moorabbin and Stkilda. However the reason he left the club is still the reason he will never return. Hates/hated the spotlight.
Took him 18 months to get over leaving Stkilda from all accounts....plugger loves the saints...hated the spotlight...think that overides his overall feeling.
Be great too see him come back one day and give a good interview on his times at Moorabbin

lockett's was the definitive best on ground. seventeen shots at goal on the full back of the century for 10.7, including the match-winner with 43 seconds left.

SOS is now one of our great assets in building a fabulous defence and Plugger considers himself a former Sydney player.
Common theme throughout his entire career. Go to footywire and look at some of his games,and look at the brownlow votes he got...was completly laughable. Without a doubt the umpiring fraternity had it in for the man. Virtually got no free kicks for the majority of his career,but would get molested in each contest...but they were very quick to jump on his back and give one against him.
We'll never see another player quite like plugger..a true freak of nature

he did kick it at the frankston end. he must have turned around to greet his teammates when he did the hands up. pretty sure i'm right, but i'll check it.
South End for sure. I ran on the ground. Cant remember if it was the winner but when he kicked his 100th our score was 14.14 and Plugger at the time was number 14!!
I watched it from the outer side of the ground - where I saw perhaps only a handful of the ten year's worth of games I saw at Moorabbin - place was packed, could hardly move!
Plugger's form line in the late 80's improved dramatically with the introduction of the Care Bears and Weagles.....you always got a warm fuzzy feeling walking to Moorabbin before a match vs an interstate team when Plugger was playing....it was not a matter of if he would kick a bag, but would today be the day when he breaks the league record!

I remember we were playing Brisbane in 92 at Moorabbin. All week in the media they were asking was this the week he was going to break the record. The match got billed as the week plugger would kick 20.
Unforecast rain came on the saturday morning,and never cleared until about quarter time nullifying pluggers game. He only got 12 and we walked away dissapointed
My friends have used that Brett Bowey 3 votes as a trivia question over the years.
Interesting to watch. Don't think Stewie Loewe took one mark in that last quarter. Harvs came off the interchange and still put his hands on his knees to get his breath back, so distinctive.
Fode was a good player.
But how good was Plugger.
And don't forget Nicky's pass and Jayson Daniels' handball. Ken Sheldon played really well too.
Lots of wonderful memories from that day came flooding back.
There has never been anything better to watch in football than The Fat Man when he was on fire.
And he was breathing fire that day.
But how did Jamie Lamb ever get a game.
And thank heavens Jack Daniels decided not to kick to Winmar or it would have been a miserable end. He was a worse kick than Travis Payze.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

agree. just an awesome player. the best i've seen and also the best kick for goal.
Ten goals seven was a dirty day for him as far as conversion goes, but it was windy and he used to lob them quite high.
if he'd kicked to his normal accuracy of about 75 per cent, he would have finished with 13.4. he once kicked 16 straight for sydney.
just imagine how he would have gone in a good side like ours at the dome protected from the wind and rain and mud ... kicking towards the lockett end of course.
The media used to debate whether Plugger or Dunstall was the better full forward. And Im not trying to put down Dunstall at all, but......can you imagine how many goals Plugger would have kicked if he played for Hawthorn for his career!! .......He almost certainly wouldv'e broken Bob Pratt and Peter Hudson's record of 150 for a year as well bagging 1500 for his career!!

agree.
if he'd played in a good side like our current one, imagine the effects of not having to win games off his own boot.
he would have been under considerably less pressure and the brain implosions might have been less frequent.
also, under today's rules he'd win a lost more free kicks. he regularly took on two defenders and beat them despite the scragging that simply is not tolerated now.

I was on the Members wing and will never forget that game...folklore has it that you heard the roar at Moorabin station when Plugger slotted that goal
as said, great memories. I was there, you can even see me fleetingly in the horde that runs and surrounds the players at the siren.
My grandparents lived 3.5 kms from the ground, and often said on a day with no wind they would be out in the garden and could catch a roar every now and then.
Can we go back to the 80's? Simplier times, less technology, footy at Moorabbin ahhhhhh, yep.
