Was there that day and collapsed when he kicked it and spent the rest of the last quarter in the St John's Room at Moorabbin. I was only a little kid.

You do remember correctly and he took it out on that ball.Stillwaiting wrote:If I remember correctly he had been reported for belting one of the filth just before the bounce that got him the free
I do believe Dave McNamara's kick of 94.5 metres at the Junction Oval against South in 1907 is the longest kick recorded.
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell
Just kept coming
I was in the CS and sitting in the middle of the goals and the ball just kept on coming and coming and coming, GOAL.

Amazing but TRUE.Bernard Shakey wrote:My info is as I posted above and I find it hard to believe his longest kick would be in his last year at the age of 36.Enrico_Misso wrote:McNamara's longest kick was 93 yards in 1923
And that was after he broke his leg in 1921.
The guy was still playing for Ormond at 45!!

There if no doubt he was a freak. I've seen his grave at Brighton Cemetery.Enrico_Misso wrote:Amazing but TRUE.Bernard Shakey wrote:My info is as I posted above and I find it hard to believe his longest kick would be in his last year at the age of 36.Enrico_Misso wrote:McNamara's longest kick was 93 yards in 1923

Good that he was around for our premiership.

Pretty sure he didnt play at Ormond but he was our first coach though.Enrico_Misso wrote:Amazing but TRUE.Bernard Shakey wrote:My info is as I posted above and I find it hard to believe his longest kick would be in his last year at the age of 36.Enrico_Misso wrote:McNamara's longest kick was 93 yards in 1923

I know he was involved in horse racing. The Brighton Cemetery and a couple of other websites say he played for and was playing coach of Ormond during that period.
Was there a precursor to the Ormond VAFA club?
