Gotta beat the blues
I'm not gonna rant about how much I truly hate the scum more than any other club for all the obvious and waaaay too many personal reasons - but with each new year and the wonderful record we now hold in beating them, brings a dread in me that is matched by their hatred of us and our having had it over them for so long - makes next Monday's game absolute "have to win" at all costs.
They've come close the last couple of times and I'm sure they reckon its their time. They'd be sore about today, but still cocky about having shown up Geelong and in next week's game we are the hunted again
We've had problems containing Betts in the past, now we've got Yarran and a more in form and accurate Setanta
Will CJ take Judd?

Agree HS.
I remember some of those dark years in the 80s when my main hope for the season was to beat this filthy bunch of criminals.
Hate them more than all the other clubs put together.
Yes the 12 in a row is magnificent.
I have savoured every one of them.
But I have a long memory.
We still have plenty plenty more revenge to extract.
Would just love to trounce them in a final.
Don't forget our overall record against them is still dismal.
47 wins (including the 12) and 2 draws out of 205 games.
That is a win rate of 23.4%
Our worst win rate against any side.
Please please beat them !

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

We will score more heavily as their back line is much easier to get out of than the dogs, IMO. Containing Betts Garlett and Yarran with our one size fits all backline will be the key, along with the regulation, winning clearance' s and stoppages in the middle.bobmurray wrote:We'll need to kick a decent score to beat them......
I hope Ross manufactures a decent forward line during the week....
good luck Ross.....
Will they bring Waite back? Usually plays on Reiwoldt so they need him less than normal, but he has a good record against us?
Maybe this year?

Always playing for pride v's blues
The determination to reverse a dismal record against the blues of times past has reaped significant results for the Saints. Beating carlton always meant an enormous ammount to me in a footy season.
Carn the Saints!
Great to see Armo having a serious impact and Geary holding on to his spot. Loved seeing J. Steven slot his goal

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

I wish could have said that, copped a lot of crap though school,kosifantutti23 wrote:My son finishes high school in a few weeks.
It would be wonderful if he could say he went through his high school years without seeing Carlton beat St Kilda. I know I certainly can't say that.
Hope he finshed with a 100 point win
I love this club

Watched them live on Sunday. When they move the ball quickly they can be deadly. WE simply MUST win the clearances and stoppages. Judd is so powerful and gets them going every time. THeir backline looked awful when placed under pressure, and they had no idea making the transition from attack to defence all over the ground when the ball was turned over. Murphy and Judd are the keys. Gibbs is a great user. I can't see Setanta having another game like he did on Sunday - his kicking still looked very wobbly, despite the accuracy last week. THey have many newer types who are still finding their feet.
WE should win, although they seem to be rising to the challenge to try and beat us lately. I still reckon big crowds/occasions bring the best out in the boys, and are reasonably comfortable that we should win again.

Need to keep them under pressure.Moods wrote:Watched them live on Sunday. When they move the ball quickly they can be deadly. WE simply MUST win the clearances and stoppages.
The Pies allowed them to run freely after half-time fora bit and the Blues rammed on some quick goals.
But the the Pies clamped down with pressure all over the ground and Blues caved him.
I understand that the Pies scored about 16 goals from turnovers.
Jusdd may win the ball, but if the guys he is passing too are under pressure they will turn it over.
