Played tough and won plenty of contested ball. Looked calm under pressure.

Bright future for this kid.

Good to see he finally got his chance tonight, I was impressed with his attack on the ball. Provided some fierce contest in the last quarter as well

Looked great...the contest he made against 2 Bulldogs players with 5 minutes to go was the turning point of the game. Some crunching tackles too.

13 possies, 5 tackles and 1 goal = a great effort for a second gamer.

Rising Star Steven here we come soon IMO!

Probably didn't play enough of the game, but I loved what I saw. He played SAINTS FOOTY right from the start. It's exciting to have him in the team.

Hopefully he doesn't get dropped when Gram comes back! Was impressed with this kid, and can only see him getting better. From the two games he's played for the Saints he's a solid contributer that I haven't seen make too many clumsy mistakes.

Who gets dropped to make way for Grammy though? Do others on here agree that on Mini's form this season, he should be given a spell in the twos and allow Steven to get a good four or five games under his belt and get a sample size?

was solid... doesn't shirk a contest and when under the pump, found a target

Excellent game, and Steven will be a gun.

I still can't get used to his running style, though - his movement is very unusual

i did agree. but i thought mcqualter was almost our best in the last quarter. i also love steven. so no idea who gets dropped for grammy. geary or ray possibly. but whoever it is will be stiff.

Noticed a few times Jack on his own.
His opponent had run off him to where we were obviously going to kick the ball.
Jack then had to run to catch up to his opponent.

When you are a forward Jack your opponent should be following you.
You have to read the play quicker than him.

And he will. Crikey it was his second start. The kid loves the contest and his body has now developed to the stage where he can be involved. Time in the side will see his natural footballer develop - and he is a natural footballer. Contest to contest, ball to ball, he's got it - give him a little time.

As for his running style - he's what I call a scurrier. Minimal knee lift, skating gait, he scurries. But, scurrying is good if it carries you to the footy, and his does.

Tip? By mid season he'll be ahead of Armitage, Geary, Jones, McQualter, Milne, Schneider et al. The kid's a quick learner with a footy brain and a developing body.

Li'l Jack is an improver, with a bullett.

Mini was better than Armo, Geary and Steven.
I would expect one them to go first.
May have been a matter of time on ground but the possession stats agree.

With his angel face he is like the smiling assasin. In only his second game he showed he likes to bang bodies and can get contested ball. Its a yes from me.

Lets see if Stanley and Steven can rip it up at AFL level - Steven more than deserved his place - Stanley may be the forward we need in Roos absence!

I understand now the excitement on here! And him getting number three!

His ability to make an option and read the play....Was instrumental when Ray kicked it into the centre to a two in one - Caused enough pressure against two for them to turnover which resulted in Milnes goal!

The blokes tackling and speed is amazing!

And he does run funny - But he's still quick!

That's what I'm expecting.....given opportunity, imo, good chance he will become a top-liner....
