Pattison was named BOG for Sandy in the weekend and the week before he was listed as emergency for the Saints. To me that indicates he is ahead of McEvoysaint vince wrote:What is your basis for that. So your plan is to drop two blokes who have been part of a team that has dropped 4 games in 2 seasons and bring in two blokes by your own admission don't deserve it on the back of one loss.saint vince wrote:To me it seems Zac and Mini need a couple of weeks playing back in Sandy with the message that no one's place is guaranteed. If Gram & Ray don't come up then I'd even be tempted to play Smith & Heyne, they may or may not deserve it but I'm sure their enthusiasm and freshness would add some much needed bite to a line up I think looked stale and uninterested.
Then again Ross may simply put a rocket up the current 22 and show some faith that last week's execution and effort was simply an anomaly. That our mids were embarrassing with their disposal and movement and our forward line became dysfunctional because of it, which still does not excuse the lack of pressure our forwards put on their backs...This weeks game offers a chance to atone for that performance.
IMO Zac was pretty good on Saturday night I would of had him in the top half of our players and I rekon Mini is going alright apart from missing a coupe of goals.[/quote]
Yep, that's pretty much the plan or idea to be thrown about. I can't explain why we played so poorly on Sat night, other than players are beginning to feel pretty comfortable and once they were met with the pressure we pride ourselves on they couldn't handle it.
I would like to see us reach the finals this year with our 30 best players available, then pick the best in form 22 for the finals subject to match ups but safe in the knowledge all 30 of them have had a decent run at some stage through the season and they all feel comfortable in their roles.
The baby has not been thrown out with the bath water but IMO the water needs some freshening up. Do we wait for another loss because then the argument is we've only lost 5 games in two seasons?
In my opinion the loss of Roo should create opportunity that will make us stronger come finals time, surely it's worthy of trying a couple of fresh faces whilst keeping the majority of our structure in place?

Maybe they ought to see how he goes "tagging" someone. He has serous speed, so maybe he could be given the role of running with Griffen, or Cooney. This is exactly what happened with CJ and it's turned out brilliantly.Quixote wrote:I really really doubt Peake will make the cut again.
And if he does I'll be pissed off. Getting a tad sick of watching him jog around the ground.
I agree that he needs to do something or else he ought to be out, but with the Doggie's speed this may not be the week, especially if Gram doesn't come up.
Maybe give him one last chance in a run-with role.
I also agree with many that Mini has had a very ordinary year. Missed goals, fumbles, dropped marks and uncertainty with the ball are not what we need from someone who gets so little of the ball and kicks so few goals.
YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR.

What have you seen in Peake apart from Being quick that you think he will be able to tag someone. The defensive side of his game is deplorable IMO. He is clearly a forward of the ball option only.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Maybe they ought to see how he goes "tagging" someone. We have to go with pace agaisnt the dogs and all those ins are the fastest at the club. Peake doesnt seem to even run always just jogging. He fustrates me.
I have a sad feeling in me that Ross will pick Mcevoy over Stanley...
Dear Ross Lyon,
GIVE STANLEY A GO!!!!
Cheers.
Zac on his last shot!
Gardiner Kosi and Stanley rotate through the ruck and forward line.
Stanley = The New Riewoldt
STANLEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I thought that Peake's game was ok.
He is also quick and we are playing a quick team this week.

To those thinking that there will be up to 4 changes;
You might want to check Ross' history. He rarely, if ever makes that many changes. My prediction; 1 or 2 changes, depending on the fitness of Gram & Ray !!

OK seeing as it's turned into predictions:
ONE of Gram/Ray won't come up, so, IN: GRAY (Gram or Ray), Steven, Stanley
OUT: Peake, King, Mini
Note: the above WILL NOT happen. But I reckon it should.
When the other half of GRAY is fit, Eddy, Clarke or Steven goes.
Eddy won't be dropped this week he had a cracker against Port.

Decent idea.
BUT:
Don't we have enough tagging players?
Also, Peake wasn't recruited with a tagging role in mind. He's not exactly a tough, big-framed player. We took him for his speed and run and carry.
Thing is though to run and carry you have to break out of a jog.

Wasnt' Mini playing more on the ball last year? From memory his contested possession numbers were best at the club and he was more in and under (keeping Ball out of the team). Could be wrong but seems more forward this year which isn't working (to date). I understand he's a good shot on goal but would like to see rotation with Armo in the centre.
Rather see this than drop him otherwise he may go. Need speed this Friday.
Don't think we'll see any backline changes for quite some time. Our bedrock without Nick.

No Mini was essentially in the same role.millarsaint wrote:Wasnt' Mini playing more on the ball last year? However 2010 Differences
* Our very good accuracy has limited the behinds we have kicked and hence the defensive set-ups we have for kick-ins to lock in the ball.
* St Kilda like a number of teams are more often leaving the forward line open "Pagans Paddock"-like. Mini does not havethe pace of some to exploit this. ie Gram amd Peak (and you can see why Lovett was wanted!!!)
* Mini is not in the form he was last year. Is not playing shocking by any means. But last year he was decisive in his decision making and had superb accuracy on goal. This year he is hesitating more, missing goals and is not passing well.

Nothing against Mini, but if that is the case it may be wise to take another look at Steven at senior level now. It may be that he can bring more to the team than even an in-form Mini.saintsRrising wrote:* Mini is not in the form he was last year. Is not playing shocking by any means. No doubt Ross doesn’t make changes for changes sake. And while we can argue that we need to field the best 22 each week to ensure we make the finals, there is a case for giving the likes of Steven & Stanley etc a taste in order to gauge where they are at.
After all injuries can happen at any time and I’d hate to be throwing them in at the deep end in September with little or no senior experience.
