Do you think it has more to do with everyone sitting.. and possibly there's more kids at games?
I reckon that there were less kids back then. But I could be wrong.
I know that I am more mindful these days coz my kids are there.
But it somehow doesn't seem to deter opposition suppoers.

There's a guy that sits near me (aisle 31) that lets one rip every now ant then.rexy wrote:Not sure, but from time to time I try to chanel him and let one rip, reminds me of standing on the esky at Moorabin and taking it all in, these days everyone looks at you like a freak for being that loud though, all a bit polite in the stands for my liking. Couple of years ago I stood up for 2 seconds when Brett Voss sat on someones head at the G, bloke behind me leant forward and said would you mind remaining seated. Pffft, enjoy yourself FFS.Milton66 wrote:Aaah... them's the days.
If we were infront at 3/4, the attendance would double. Where else would you witness a swarm of supporters turning up at 3/4 time, as opposed to leaving?
And when we got going, the roar of "St Kilda - clap clap clap" from the grandstand was awsome.
Whatever happened to the guy who would yell out "Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarn Sainters!"

The scream got louder and higher, like he was having a seizure, till he eventually finished it off with "Saints" and everyone applauded.
He made it out to Waverley where he used to do it in the members stand.
Thought I have heard him a few times at Jihad.
But seems to have run out of breath.

Dunstall should have got 18 that day.jonesy wrote:Yep,we had Adelaide the same day at Moorabbin. There was always this rivalry in Stkilda fans minds between Lockett/Dunstall. News was filtering through about Dunstalls haul that day...I think he had 10-11 at half time, everyone was sort of flat.Moccha wrote:Lockett kicked 15.4 for the Saints the same year Dunstall kicked 17 for the Hawks
Plugger ended up with a lazy 10 against the crows, but it kind of felt like a loss after Dunstall got 17
Late in the last qtr when he was on 17, Hawthorn got a loose man going and executed a chain of "over the top" handballs, leaving the ball in the hands of a Hawk forward running alone towards Dunstall and the Richmond fullback Turner standing in the goalsquare.
The manuals all say that in that situation the fullback should run out at full speed towards the advancing player hoping to either force him to kick early and stuff up, or cause him to mis-execute the over the top handball to the waiting forward.
But Turner was having none of that.
He knew his history, and he didn't want to be a footnote in history as being the fullback who had a record equalling 18 goals kicked against him.
So whilst Piggy stayed right back on the goal line waiting for Turner to run out, Turner just stood there holding Dunstall.
The forward ran right in, hesitated, looking for Turner to come at him.
But Turner never budged, so he was forced to kick a gift goal from the square, but at least Turner kept Piggy to 17

On level 3, likes to let it go just as the umpire goes to bounce the ball at centre bounces?fingers wrote:There's a guy that sits near me (aisle 31) that lets one rip every now ant then.rexy wrote:Not sure, but from time to time I try to chanel him and let one rip, reminds me of standing on the esky at Moorabin and taking it all in, these days everyone looks at you like a freak for being that loud though, all a bit polite in the stands for my liking.
