To the Tazzie Saints fans at Soho
Im not sure if they are members of saintsational or not but I wanted to say cheers to the saints fans I watched some of the game with at Soho. If I had known you guys were round in that corner spot I would have been there with you from the start. It was nice to have some friendly sainters to watch our boys bring it home with.
Cheers

I was there last night, but I don't think I saw you (not that I have any idea what you look like, but I didn't talk to any female Sainters fans). Were you over in the cramped little far corner looking out on Molle St (or Byron St or whatever it's called at that point)?
I was standing there for a bit earlier on, but then wandered off to eat something in the cafe. I didn't really know anyone else who was there, but you have the odd chat with people (one of the barmen there last night is a big Saints fan).
I don't know if other Hobart-based Saints fans ever want to get away from their armchairs and plasma screens at home and come and watch the footy at a pub, but we could perhaps start something at Soho (their screens aren't really big enough for my liking, but there aren't too many other places in Hobart I know of that will always have the footy showing and which are open on a Sunday night).

I started off in a booth on the Davey St side, watched most of the game there, when my room mate left ( she is a tigers fan so not such an exciting game for her) I heard some noise from the little corner so wondered over to join the saints fans there.
I would be up for watching the games somewhere on a regular basis, Its nice watching with some other saints supporters.

Well, I can't make next weekend, Rd 6 is a Friday night (when Soho gets pretty busy and can feature the odd drunken fight over girls).
But Rd 7 (Monday night) and, especially, Rd 8 (another twilight game) look rather promising.
If we can set up something a few days earlier on here, we might be able to get a few other Hobartian SSers along.

It's a depressing fact that, in a town where there seem to be many thousands of Saints supporters (I know several fanatical ones) there doesn't seem to be much in the way of organised supporter activities.
I think quite a few of the more fanatical Saints fans try to get over to Melbourne for as many live games as they can (I know a couple who do this). Half their luck: work and family commitments make it virtually impossible for me to do this ATM (hopefully not for too much longer).
You will note that not too many active forumites seem to live in Hobart: I think there's Santazzi, myself (and I've only been back here for a year or so) and now you, TazzieSaintGirl83 (can I call you TSG for short?).
The Sydney, Perth and Queensland contingents seem to be far more active.
Oh well, you never know, this thread might flush out a few more Hobartians.

It is worth getting together and starting a group
I started one this year in Brisbane (has been running for 5 months) i have found 64 Brisbane Saints fans, our last game at the pub we had about 40 there for the game
We are lucky that the pub we go to is owned by Carl Ditterich and he is happy to have us there and makes a priority...
I havent contacted the saints about promoting it to the members so i will have to do something about that
Have you done that with the Mermaid supporter group Bev?
I hear you are making the trip to Brisbane for the round 6 game? We will make sure it is a good one with atmosphere

Re: To the Tazzie Saints fans at Soho
Great you made it to Soho. I settled for the ABC broadcast which was the worst ever........unfortunate you did not link up with MB though you were both there at the same time.........TazzieSaintGirl83 wrote:Im not sure if they are members of saintsational or not but I wanted to say cheers to the saints fans I watched some of the game with at Soho. Sounds a good idea to find a place to gather when games are on FOX......
I can see Soho becoming the Karlee of Hobart and you the RogerWA of the apple Isle .......................Seriously though is Soho the best venue....I have been there a couple of times for meals and i did not think it was spacey...................

Now you tell me. We should use it to get to the North Island to watch the games live.santazzi wrote:No worries...my private jet shall be at your service..............Launcestonsaint wrote:I can make it there if someone doesn't mind giving me a lift!

I dont mind which venue in the hobart area we pick as long as their is a screen with the footy on and I can get a drink at the bar then Im happy.
I would really love to get something going for getting together and watching some games.
Come one Launcestonsaint you arent that far away haha. I was born in Launie actually not a bad place up there.
Welcome bob_71, hope you want to join us to watch some games.
Thanks for the advice Batnoe, starting something up sounds like the way to go.
Thats a great idea, thanks Saint Bev I should see if the club can help us contact more sainters in the hobart area
Hope you can make it along too santazzi, when we decide a place and time that is.
Do you have any other suggestions meher baba of where we might go to watch it. There arent too many places especially since the casino shut down the sports bar (by the way TSG is fine )

Re: To the Tazzie Saints fans at Soho
it's far from ideal, but it's the best I've found. The problem in Hobart is that quite a few pubs shut on Sundays. Those that are open often have bands or Keno or other distractions. As TSG said, if anyone knows a better one, please speak up. Otherwise I reckon it's Rd 8 at Soho.santazzi wrote:Great you made it to Soho.
