Having said that, there's now 3 contenders for Roo's spot:-

- Stanley
- Cahill
- McEvoy
I think there are more
ie Patto..

Or Raph into the backline and Zac to FF

Or play an extra mid in Steven.

Even though its only a summary, sounds like Raph has done alright, would love to see him come into the team and fill the floating backman sort of role, leaving gilby or fish to go forward

With both of the twin towers missing I'd really like to see another tall down there. Gardy will spend some time but you'd want to see at least one tall (not that Zac's that short)

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I would be very interested to see whether Gilbert would be useful in front of goal?

Considering Stanley was 2nd BOG, I reckon it's a no-brainer.

Why?

I mean to start with..who actually compiled that list of "bests"?
What was their criteria?
Did they consider ability to play "Saints Footy"?
Where did Stanley play?

Maybe. However we know that he is a star in the backline.

I reckon Stanley should be given ago. He is the most Riewoldt-esk player on the list. Even Rossy mentioned his name as a replacement.

If Steven was given a game, who would make way for him?

I reckon Jack might need abit more time in the 2's. He would have to have been damn good to drop McQualter.

By the way I believe Stanley is 202cm, the same as King.

Not saying he won't be. Will just be interested in the detailed match reports.

There have been a lot worse players that Mcqualter over the last few weeks. He missed a couple of goals but he is playing his role as a defensive forward; he played on lockyer who only had 11 touches so I reckon he is far from being dropped

STEVEN will challenge McQUALTER...

Post: # 904875Post WinnersOnly »

STEVEN will challenge McQUALTER... IMO Mini has lacked a couple of yards of pace this year and has had an indifferent start to the year, STEVEN will put pressure on him because he has that extra pace and is more adaptable to go onto the ball.

Was at the Sandy game today. I dont think our forward line was sorted out today though. Thought Raph was best on the ground and a class above everyone else. Was also 'tutoring' Tommy on where to stand in the back line throughout the game. Tommy worked himself into the game and was not disgraced. Other great players today were Jack, Eddy and Rhys (but more when he played in the ruck and around the ground - not forward). Cahill kicked a few but is not the answer up forward - yet. Lynch didnt play. Most Saints players played well after a poor first quarter although Big Mac wasn't at his best.

Maybe bring Raph in and move either Fisher or Goddard up forward?

Mini definitely plays a key role with his forward pressure and tackling as generally bobs up for a goal most weeks. However if Steven can match Mini's defensive intensity whilst also bringing more offensive attributes he'll demand a spot in the team.
