no, what he means by "late change" is that lenny, for superstitious reasons, will be one of the last players to be getting changed before the game in the club rooms.

It's unlikely that they would play all the emergencies and just send 22 to Sydney.

They got caught out in Launceston doing that once when X. Clarke got injured before the game.
